Torn

I ride 50 miles a day (mixture of A, B, city and motorway) all year round until the ice/snow beats me.

Test rode the XCA a couple of weekends ago (lovely engine) but got wind blast (not as bad as the XR though).
Having issues locating a GSA to test ride as no dealers near me have a demo bike but Williams are letting me take one of their bikes for sale out for a quick spin this weekend (as long as the bike is not sold but they do have three in stock!). Stock GS was very very poor for wind protection and hoping the GSA will be a vast improvement as that is what everybody says it is. Just don't like the vibes from the engine.

One tooth up on the front sprocket sorts the vibes issue out , I had a new Africa Twin and I thought that was way more viby than my F800GSA , the F800 Gsa has better fuel economy , its comfortable and reliable .. as you can tell I like mine ...A lot :)

Test ride them both and buy the bike that you gelled with.

:agree

Exactly what he says ... it's not what we think is best, but what you do. Ride 'em both, go for the one that 'talks to you' :thumb

For me it would always have to be the F800GS, for too many reasons to go in to here, because they are all personal choices and preferences. Did I mention the mileage?

125,000 miles with no issues, no problems, no corrosion. North Africa, Asia ... all through Europe, and I can't fault it :thumb

Engine valve clearances never been adjusted, still bang on halfway between the max and min permissible, doesn't burn any oil, runs like a new one just out of the crate :D

:beerjug:

had go on a tiger 800xrt couple of months back, bloody top heavy compared to my gs, buzzy engine and don't think the suspension was set up very well.

Got my GSA test ride tomorrow but Triumph have offered me a brand new unregistered 800 XCA for £10200. That's without me asking for them to reduce the price! Normal full price is £11400 (I think).

D'ya wanna buy a bike cheap ... or one that you want :blast

Ask yourself why they want to sell it you cheap :blast

I found the triumph 800 too revvy for me, i rode a friends bike and decided within a few miles it was not for me. Test ride them all thoroughly and then decide. I really do not like the revvy sound / style of the triumph triple engines but then again i am from the Varadero V twin era.
Hope you are happy with whatever you decide on
Justin

I agree,it is cheaper, has the more suitable for the road 19 inch front wheel,it is lower and slightly lighter and has taller gearing. I did fit the 17 tooth sprocket from the F650gs to my F800gs and it is much better for the road and you dont even need a different length chain.
If your riding roads only try the F700GS (800cc) its basicly the same as the F800GS but with more road set up.
