X Tightening torque:
Fastener securing fork bridge (top yolk) to frame
(clean thread + Loctite 243)........................ 130 Nm
Fastener securing fork bridge to fixed tube
(free from oil and grease).............................. 45 Nm
Handlebar to fork bridge .............................. 21 Nm

Can't be certain that your newer bike is the same!

cheers mate ,so is it 45nm ?(which one is it ?)

cheers mate ,the way its worded is gobbledy gock to me lol
130nm seems one hell off a pressure to go on to the bearing mind?

Sorry, just looked at this again as I've been at GOTC.

My understanding is 130NM for the top yolk pivot, 45NM for the fixed fork tube to the top yolk and 21NM for the handlebar clamps.

BMW use some enormous torques fo rsome items. the Final Drive pivot is something over 120NM if I remember correctly and the FD input bearing is loaded with 230NM I think.

All the answers....maybe!

Being a very new 1150 GS owner myself I have spent hours on the net trying to get all the answers. Sometimes you end up getting much more confused, but a manual is always a good start to any problem.

Link to 1150 GS repair manual: http://www.scribd.com/doc/7179043/BMW-R1150GS-Repair-Manual

It is no less than 311 pages and includes loads of useful info, and some less useful info as well, but there you go. It is hopeless to use in your browser but can be downloaded (after being taken through some options of uploading stuff yourself, where you just click no thanks) - the file is about 50 Mb!

You will find "Tightening torques" on page 5, but they also specify tightening torques in each specific chapter.

Hope it might work for you - it has for me
