total loss of power then nothing

I was riding this afternoon when suddenly the bike gs1150adv spat some fuel on my right foot and then decided to give up the ghost totally.

anybody have any suggestions what it may be before I call the breakdown people and start stripping the thing down. All fuel hoses are ok, although there does seem to be a vacuum hose dangling at a loose end which i don't recall seeing before.

Any help greatly appreciated before I get the spanners out.

Fuel on the right foot sounds like a clue. Where did it come from? I take it the electrics are all working?

all electrics are fine, it looks like it came from one of the hoses but they are all secure although wet

quick disconnect coupling, make sure that they are in, this happened to me last week, does the fuel pump make a high pitched whinning sound? instead of the normal pumping sound

This "vacuum" pipe !!! it wouldn't be either the tank overflow or breather by any chance.

looks a bit small for either of those, it's much finer and hard plastic like a vaccum advance pipe on a car.

I don't know if it's significant but I changed a fuel hose a couple of days ago, and could only get a neoprene one, (£15 a metre) so it had better not be that

Here we go - There's always something else that comes to light when a problem occurs, thats omitted to mention when first posted.

The hard narrow plastic pipe may well be the battery breather.
Is the neoprene pipe you fitted the proper fuel injection stuff rated to 3 bar minimum and was it fitted inside or outside the tank?.
Did you re-use or replace the hose clamps?.
Have you checked the quick dis-connects for damage/leaks and condition of the "O" rings.

i'm not entirely sure about the rating of the fuel pipe, all o rings are fine, I used new clamps and they're the hoses from the quick disconnects to the hard pipe outside the tank.
