i saw a 2001 fully loaded 1150GS a week ago for £4.5k local to me. new clutch (was surprised) starter motor lamda sensor. £6.5k seems expensive for the GSA in comparrison.....

Or that GS was cheap for a reason

Reason? It had 38k on the clocks but fsh. I don't think your BMW's are residual proof as you like to make out. Just because a dealership makes prospective punters pay big money , it doesnt mean they trade for that in the real world.

Seems cheap. I got about £5300 (albeit earlier this year) on a 2000 1150 with panniers & Y piece, 33k miles and that was Part exchange not private sale.

its the price difference that counts - if you'd have sold your bike privately, then gone to a dealer, they'll knock the price down on the bike your buying for cash, and thrown in some extras .

Unless your a 1200 buyer, in which case wait till all the can't waits have got theirs, then produce the cash.

Any bike sitting in a dealers unsold is costing them money, when its slow, any profit, no matter how small, is profit . So pull their trousers down and give them a spanking .

i've had some drop dead deals in the past.

I agree in principle. But, on this occasion, it was for an early 1200 when they were scarce so the dealer had no reason to discount so it makes me think it was the going rate for px.

Every bike is going to lose money, check out your forthcoming KTM after 12 months to see what I mean. ;)

Seems the going rate is around £6k for bikes around 2000/2001 regardless of trade or private, just wondering how much difference it is having the BMW warranty as all seem to offer this even on 4 year old bikes. I am willing to travel with in reason, but much over 150miles will need to be a pretty good offer, not in any major rush, can wait till January if I need to :D

May be tempted to part with my 03 model for 6700. Lots of extras.
Though need to move quick. Will accept a deposit and will hold until you sell the fazer.
