Tourance EXP tyres?

Just wondering if anyone has tried the Tourance EXP tyres on their bike. My bike was in for a service and tyre change today and the dealer offered the EXP's as an option (a €30 extra option). In the end I went for the regular tourances since I hadn't heard anything about the EXP's but was wondering afterwards whether anyone else had tried them??

EXPs are simply the new model of tourances and should not be charged any more for. Espicially since they are shit. They wear out much faster and everyone knows that the old tourance is superior.

Tell them they are "tossers" and should know better.

More subjectively, many say they're a bit grippier than the old Tourance, but the EXP wears out much much faster.

My experience of the EXP (rear) is that it wears at pretty much the same rate as the old Tourance. I'm just about to change the first EXP thats been fitted to my bike, and it's done around 7,500 miles, maybe a little more (at work so can't check). Its now down to 1mm on the centre line of the tread. From memory, I've changed the previous version of Tourance at around 7.8-8k miles (3 sets).

Just away from the centre line there's 2mm+ of tread so it won't be technically illegal for a while yet (1mm tread across 3/4 of the width).

TBH, I didn't realise the current tyre was an EXP until I looked closely at it last week to confirm the size before ordering a new set - it felt no different to the old Tourance (I think they're great - always steady rain or dry, not prone to slipping on gravel/gravillons )

Just had a set fitted at the weekend, £205 pair, so far they seem good, cant comment on durability as only done about 300 miles so far, i have to say on my old tyre, standard Tourance, i had a slight slow speed wobble through the bars, dont have that with the new tyre so so far

My local tyre guy also tells me that the new EXP do wear out much quicker.
I think the old Tourance looks a much nicer tyre, which is far more important.

1 mm continuos across 3/4 of the tread so if the centre is down to 1 mm then its due now

8500 Kms on mine and the rear tyre is squared off and needs to be changed.I honestly don't see the difference between them and Dunlop 607's,Battlewings,Anakees now that I have used all four.

I have run 3 different bikes on Tourances.... prob 6 sets in all.
Opted for the EXP tyres last year and was instantly aware that the bike steered quicker... appear to have a 'pointier' profile on the front.
I always had excellent feedback from both wheels of my bike, when lent over.

Exps gave me no feedback. Yes the bike changes direction quickly and if sensible, they never let go, but didnt give me any 'feel' so I couldnt push them as hard.
Just junked them at 5000 miles and am much happier to be back on the old faithfuls.

I've had a pair on for a while now.
Back one didn't last pi$$ing time and oddly had some cracks all over the rubber.
I replaced it with another EXP as I got it cheap but will be returning to regular Tourances at the next change.

I was under the impression that the EXP had a harder centre and as a result are supposed to last longer than the standard. Was I mis-informed?

I have EXP's on my gsa, I have done 7,000 on them and they are about done in, ready for replacement in a couple of weeks. However, breaking the milage down , lets see what I have got out of them:
1,000 riding by myself on ride outs..etc
6,000 riding with mrs dxtans and luggage on trips abroad. ( that is a lot of weight on the rear tyre)
So I think that works out pretty much OK, not brilliant, but not disappointed. And as another poster has stated, they do hold they grip in the rain. We were in the alps a couple of weeks ago, with pouring rain coming down the mountain, negotiating all the hairpins on the way down was a breeze, those EXP's do stick to the road.
