Tourance tyre deals anywhere anyone ?

Why would you want them ?. i put a pair of the EXP variant on last june and from day one i didnt like them, they made the bike feel very nervous and twichy. Tried different tyre pressures, different suspension settings etc. no better. got them off fairly sharpish.

Nervous and twitchy is good - makes for faster turn in and direction changes...

Tyres can be very personal, I have only used the EXP's (and like them) but on my Black Forest trip in April my mate rented a GS with Tourances, he is a race school instructor who has won two national championships and set a number of National SS 600 and Superstock 1000 lap records. He liked them, and went at a pace well beyond what 99.99% of GS owners would ride at.

Anyway, what one person likes another may hate, even at top level there have been riders in GP's and Superbikes that could only ride well on a particular brand.

Back in the world of mere mortals it seems some tyres are universally praised, whilst others are universally hated, typically with a few riders being the exception to the rule.

Mag tests are OK to a point, but how a tyre feels to one person may not be the same for everyone, and when tyres are tested by someone who is 20 seconds a lap faster than you the bike / tyre will be behaving very differently to when you are wafting along your fave roads.

I hated the Battlewings that came on my GS but really liked the Tourance EXP's, these are also what are on my new Tenere and I like them on that too.

I loved Roadsmarts on both my GS and ZZR1400, which is why I may well fit them again when the Tenere finishes off its tyres.

Getting them off is a great idea, sell them to someone who will enjoy them and fit something you like. I tend to stick with the same tyre on a bike once I find one I like, but as technology moves on you sometimes have to take a punt on a new tyre.

Im pretty new to oilheads BUT have have had Tourances on my airhead for years.
Having read all the pro's and cons of all available tyres it seems that for every person that says tyre "X" is good, another will say its crap.
Whilst Tourances may suit me and the airhead, I realise that they may not be the same on the oilhead, but I can only go with what I know . . . . . . .

pilot road 3,i have had tourances and exps and battlewings etc.the pr 3 i think is the dogs right from the off they feel right,loads of grip in the dry and tbh wet weather grip is superb with very very good feel.i am not normally a tyre fussy person but these made the biggest difference to me in over 35 years of riding.

Wore out a pair of EXPs through Europe. Had them changed for 199 quid for the pair, but standard Tourances as the EXPs have been 'withdrawn' from the market? Apparently due to poor wear tendencies...

That's the story in Aberdeen Scotland, anyhow.

I got a pair of Pilot Road 3 Trail fitted today and in the pouring rain loved them straight away, even drove past my home and went down some country lanes just to try them, they are fantastic.
I've always had EXP's and never thought twice about anything else but I put standard Tourance on a couple of months ago for an up-coming trip to Europe, wanting better milage. Total mistake for me, I didn't like them at all and lost all confidence in them, vague at the front and rear steps out in the damp. I got a puncture, so decided to cut my losses and find something better.
I read all the reviews here and after admitting that I ride the GSA only on road I went for the PR3's. So glad I did, looking forward to the trip again now

I've been reading loads of posts about how good the Tourance tyres are. I've looked on their website and they don't have them in my size.

3.00 21 48 (or 51) Front
4.00 18 64 Rear

Any suggestions for 'the' tyre of choice for those sizes. (I'm currently using Distanzias which I've done about 2000 miles on)

I realise this is on the 1200 section and my bike couldn't be further away but would appreciate your thoughts.
