I had Tourances everytime on my old 1150, my new 12GSA has battlewings and I seem to be getting lots of little slips here and there - just don't seem to feel so solid in the wet - is it that they don't suit the bike quite so well? - is it the bike? or do Tourances have the edge?

Do you know if mileage is similar or better from either tyre?

I think Tourances or Michelin Anakees seem to be a prefered choice. This time of year little slips and slides are to be expected though. Personally going to try some of the pirelli scorpion tyres next. They do a tread pattern that's a bit more of road which could be good for a trip I have planned for next year. Love my tourances though, theylast ages and are really secure feeling.

I had Trailwings on my 1200 and as you say the back end would slip all over the place. I would recomend Tourance, the best tyre I've ever ridden on especially in the wet :thumb

Can't vouch for Anaklees but Grizzly swears by them although he does work where they make em ;)

Good Luck

Tourances - done just over 10,000 mls on a set fitted to my 1150 GS and still some tread left. Always feels secure.

Deathwings!! You cannot be serious.

Tourances. End of subject.

Dunlop 607s every time!!

Soft-ish, so mileage isn't spectacular, but they grip like hell.

I'll second that for 'trail' type tyres. However, as I never go off road on my GS I've now switched to 020's which, TBH, are not much better grip wise but are loads better when it comes to high speed (especially fully loaded) stability.

Dabba, do you have the old Deathwings or the recently re-introduced ones? The new ones are supposed to be an 020 carcas with 'trail' type tread and, by all accounts, not bad :nenau

Personally, I can't wait until the new 020's (0201's?) are released next year

I found the Tourances that were fitted when the bike was new were good, but I knocked the front out quickly and the face of the tread wore very unevenly. I switched to Anakees and haven't looked back. Predictable in the wet, reasonable wear life, not had a problem yet. I change my tyres probably every 3000 miles. They are not worn out, but I like the peace of mind and the best possible grip.

I think the term "Deathwings" is to be reserved for the Trailwings not the Battlewings that were asked about.

I have Battlewings on my GSA and they are fine, very stable on whitelines unlike the Anakees i had fitted from new, the bike actually handles better with the B/W's than the Anakees, which i would heve refitted had they been available at the time because i thought they were brilliant untill i changed :o

I've not tried Tourances yet, a bit silly i know, but its the "Tourances are best fek the rest" attitude that keeps me trying out other makes/types. They are all pretty poor offroad, so on road performance is about all you can judge them by.

Maybe Tourances next who knows :nenau

I also found this, had 020's on my old 850 and they were great. Like you Outtomunch I was also wondering if it would be a good move to fit the 021's next year as I only go down forest / gravel tracks infrequently really and think they might be better for the long distance touring am planning round France and Spain next year.
So many decisions, so little time :nenau
