i got 11,000miles out of my H rated tourance on the rear...and i ride mostly mountain/hilly terrain...all year around
my V rated are gone at 6,000+
and the grip is not as good as the H rated when its get too near the end of the tyre....
does anyone know where H rated can be got or are they defo not available?
FWR in London will fit a pair of Tourances for around £225, ride in, ride out.

Try Mick in Islington. They have been operating there for about a decade and are pretty cheap.

I have the new EXP's with the rear being the new M model, I've done a 1000 miles on them and the rear is showing no signs of wear but the front is shoing signs of progressive riding on the egdes 
. I'm thinking that the standard EXP proberly were softish. that said upto now very impressed better than the Michelin Anakee 2's It wore before and they were great.

WOW, where were these made. Imported from the Dark Side of the Moon no doubt.
Put a old style Tourance on the front of my GS last week £94 fitted and balanced.

Just wanted to say thanks to all!!!
Went down to Essential Rubber on Saturday, paid less than what they quoted on the phone just £205 fitted for pair of Tourances (old style)
What can i stay, they are like glue in comparison soooo much more grip than the Battlewings, front end is a huge improvement, cannot fully describe how much better the bike feels.

For those in S Wales, Mike at Cardiff Motorrad will fit Tourance or Conti Road Attacks for £195 a pair.
Mine have been ordered for fitment just before my holiday next month. Going for the Road Attacks as the last 2 rears & 1 front have been great.

Surprised by this.
I think the Tourance is a good tyre - wet or dry I have never had them slip except when 'provoking' the rear.
I changed to an 08 Adv last year which already had Battlewings on and was impressed with them also. Good tyre wet or dry.
At 11,000 miles they were replaced with Tourances from which I got 10,000 miles before the rear needed replacing to stay legal.
Although I have gone back to the Battlewings ( £200 ride in ride out this morning ) I can't honestly say I could tell any difference in the performance of the two tyres ??
In the dry I'd agree with you, but in the wet I can make an RA move a little too easily. I'm having a BT023 fitted to the rear this week and am going to run it with an RA front. Going to Picos in 10 days so should be a good trial for them. On 12ADV and get 3K from a rear before it's junk.

Threads on tyre life are very subjective! One mans meat is another mans poison, and we all have totally different riding styles and tyre requirements. Some peepes want to rip up the tarmac, and some want to potter along enjoying the scenery. Just goes to show that one persons idea of whats hot and what's not, won't necessarily be echoed by another rider.
Well i found the front just lethal on battlewings, for me its a huge difference in the feel of the bike. I have only been riding a year and a half

I agree. The tyres I have rated provide ( me ) with very satisfactory grip / mileage whether I choose to 'bimble along' or ride in a 'more focoused' mode ;D
30 yrs riding / ex traffic plod / currentley tutoring for RoSPA yadayadayaa...
You must ride more aggressively than me. Or spend your entire life riding in motorways.
I've been very happy with the RA whether commuting to Cardiff in December frost, riding across the Fernpass in a thunderstorm or riding around the Italian Lakes in 35 deg C.
Wear rate is impressive. Approx 6k rear, 12k front.

METZELER is recalling in the United Kingdom its tyre Metzeler Tourance 150/70 R17 M/C 69V manufactured in weeks 09 and 10 of 2010. As part of METZELER's ongoing quality checks we have identified an issue with one batch of tyres produced in weeks 9 and 10 of 2010 and in line with METZELER's commitment to consumer safety have decided to commence a voluntary safety recall to remove all such affected tyres from the market. The affected tyres could suffer tread block tearing which on some occasions could lead to the separation of some blocks, causing a sudden and unexpected vibration of the motorcycle. In any case there is no risk of air loss from the tyre. As a precautionary measure, METZELER has decided to replace the affected tyres which are only as follows: Tyre size: 150/70 R17M/C 69V Tourance (Rear), identifiable by the following markings on the sidewall:
DOT EB OY B279 0910 or DOT EB OY B279 1010
If you have tyres in this size with DOT codes not listed above then such tyres are not part of this recall. As a result, it has been concluded that these tyres do not consistently meet the optimum Metzeler quality-specifications which guarantee safe tyre performance, and METZELER has decided to immediately remove all the mentioned tyres from the market. Any consumer who believes they are affected by the recall should not wait to receive notification but should call the Metzeler Call Centre on phone numbers +44 08456 094949 +44 07974 153558 or by e-mail to the following e-mail address: [email protected]
