Touratech - Again

Being outside the EU we could set up an outlet over here "Touratechtaxfree" . I would imagine that we wouldnt come under the UK banner and would be able to obtain items from Touratech DE direct . We are going to the Black Forest next week so I might pop in and ask the question .

Well, I have to say I've never had too much of an issue with TT. Every item I've ever ordered has been delivered in an acceptable time scale, and for those of you who have seen my bike you will know there is quite a lot of TT items on it. :blast
As far as the price goes it's a personel issue, If you don't want to pay the price then don't buy the item's. I know there is a certain element of "your only paying for the name" but that's what some people like...... and who cares anyway:nenau
Everyone jumps on the bandwagon as soon as someone on here starts to strip down there bike and sell their TT goodies...:rob

Bottom line is if you like it, can afford it, then buy it. Let's not forget the price some of us pay for our bikes to begin with!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Anyway rant over....

Shadowfist - you can of course spend your money as you see fit. If you are happy spending your money with Touratech UK in the full knowledge that you are paying 20% more as a UK resident than any other county in Europe - then so be it.
Personaly I am not so keen on being ripped off regardless as to how much I paid for my bike in the first place.

It's a lot more than the price, it's the fact that TT UK are choosing to charge us more than any other distributor in Europe and TT Germany condone it by refusing to let us purchase items from anywhere but their UK distributor and are therefore raising two fingers to the whole ethos that is the European Union.

Look again at the costs of the same item through various European distributors net of local taxes and remember that these distributors supply not only the general public but dealers so buying direct gives them both their profit margin and the dealers:

Netherlands € 437.97 £ 298.09
Germany € 425.21 £ 289.41
Spain € 437.97 £ 298.10
Italy € 438.80 £ 298.66
France € 437.97 £ 298.09
Austria € 437.97 £ 298.09
UK € 531.84 £ 361.98

Taking Germany as buying direct from TT themselves the prices which other countries distributors use reflect a mark up of 8.68% and as can be plainly seen all other countries use basically the same cost reflecting a standardization by TT which is common business practice for a manufacturer and distributors.

Then look at the UK with their mark up of 25.07%, it sticks out like a sore thumb FFS. :spitfire

I have a brother that lives in Germany and speaks fluent German. Maybe I should get him to buy an item from Munich and ask if they will send it to the UK as it is a present! It will be interesting to see what they say.
I must admit though that I have never checked the prices elsewhere and have had good service from the boys in Wales. It makes you think though................

I can tell you the answer to that situation, it's on the TT Germany website:

Important Hint:
If you want the order to be delivered in a country where we have a Touratech-Distributor, then we will foreward the order to him. Your order will be processed by this local dealer. In this case the prices can vary due to different taxes and delivery costs.

I've just had a look at the TT website, and they have some really great, cheap elasticated straps. £6.40 for four 1M straps.............bargain. Filled out the form to check the postage cost............................. £7.20................a jiffy bag and two quids postage.......needless to say, if I can't find someone who's going, I unfortunately won't be buying them (and they were perfect for the job I had in mind)

My reply from Touratech after after asking why they wont sell directly to me and complaining about the price differance. My 5p's worth to keep TT.de aware of the issue we have in the UK.

Hello Mr. Brian Milton

Thank you for the mail.

About the prices for TT parts in UK. We have a contract with Touratech in UK to sell the parts not direct to a customer with resident adress in UK.

For the customer it is very important to have a contact company/person in his own country.

We do not make a price agreement with TT UK.

Best regards

Lothar Teufer

Recently had an e mail/newsletter from Touratech UK saying how good their delivery times are going to be going forward :

We are currently holding more stock than we have ever kept in the past and due to bigger premises, more machines, and more staff at our factory - production times are now better than ever. At present over 99% of our orders are being received well within 7-10 working days, with many being a day or two after the order is placed

Suggest that everyone who has received this e mail responds on the same basis I did i.e.
Let me know when you decide to bring your prices in line with the rest of mainland Europe and I will consider buying items from you again!!!!

TT (NOT FAST!)

It must be the only company that dares use the initials TT that does not go FAST

Items from TT are so expensive, the delivery times so C**p

I just go on Flea bay ( or this site) and buy second hand, cheaper, quicker and some other person was lucky to have the long wait initially!

A sensible option me thinks

Now anybody got some R1150GSA side panels:rolleyes:
I'm looking as I long gave up trying to get them new.
Any colour as I'm gonna paint them BLACK

Cheers:beerjug:

And there was me thinking TT.uk were just a reseller with a large mark up :nenau

The best thing is to pass the word....

A mate has recently purchased an 1150GS and I have warned him off buying from TT UK.
He WAS going to buy some TT parts until I told him how much extra he would be paying just 'cos he lives in UK.
He is now going to wait until his trip to mainland Europe next year and pick it up from his mate's place in Holland for the real price

The more people who do this, the quicker they will wake up??:nenau
Or can TT afford to alienate us?

I had nothing but hassle trying to deal with Touratech at the beginning of the year. Spoke to Nick Plumb after mucho phoning and he said they were on the case. Nice to know they take as long to sort out their own hassles as it takes to deliver their product :blast

I bought a Rev'it suit from MMC in St Helens. It's been brilliant but there have been a couple of little issues that have needed to be sorted. Their response has been little short of outstanding and I would struggle to justify buying any motorcycle gear from anyone else now.

This really shows the difference between good and bad service. I would struggle to justify buying from Touratech again, let's face it, there are some good alternatives around for most things and they are cheaper too.

Touratech.........they wouldn't get the steam off my pish these days!!!!!
