Touratech - Again

As above

:thumb2:thumb2

ordered stuff from touratech recently and I cannot complain about the service or the delivery time. the phones were answered promtly and pleasantly.

:bounce1:bounce1

Well, the move to bigger better premises doesn't seem to have done anything to improve Touratech's apalling service.

I ordered a couple of little bits back on June 9th, figuring that should be plenty of time for them to arrive and have them fitted before The Longest Day. I received an email on the same day telling me the order was being processed.

On June 13th, I get a call to tell me they cant process the order with the credit card details I've supplied. I read the card details back and sure enough there's a discrepancy with the expiry date. Well, when you enter your details online, if there's a problem, it tells you there and then. So this wasn't my error.

I stressed to the girl on the phone that I really needed the parts by Monday 16th and she said she couldn't guarantee this. Quite why I'm not sure...if they went in the post Friday afternoon they should be with me Monday morning no problems. Anyway, I said to please let me know if they weren't going to get them to me by Monday as I could give them an alternative delivery address and pick them up at my parents place in Edinburgh on Thursday en-route to JOG. Fine they said.

To cut a long story short, they never arrived.

I was about to call them this morning when they called me, telling me they had the stuff sitting there, waiting for me to call back and give them an alternative delivery address. <sigh> Couldn't really have been much less apologetic if they'd tried. "Am I bovvered?" sprung to mind.

Yet another black mark. I said I'd never use them again after my last encounter with their "customer services"...but some things you can't get elsewhere. Ho hum.

I bought around £1,500 worth of "stuff" for my new GS, these parts arrived in drips and drabs. I ordered side pannels ages ago they have missed several promised delivery dates, (after I chased them) they still have not arrived they can't give me a delivery date as there suppliers can't forecast their production...........WHAT A LOAD OF TISH !!

In my opinion TT UK don't have a clue about customer service...............they really are cr*p I would never use them EVER AGAIN and urge people to vote with their wallet and spend their hard earned cash else where !!

On the other hand Nippy Normans........... great company and they communicate everything throughout the transaction.

:beerjug:

+1 for Nippy.

Ordered stuff yesterday afternoon and it arrived half and hour ago. I've ordered some stuff from TTUK which they needed to special order. I need it for next week, which I told them. If they get it to me I'll be very pleased.

the concept is very simple in technology, interface your customer order system with the warehouse stock take/warehouse replenishment system and give the customer when they order a decent indication for timescale to deliver....

You might also want to add in a customer management system that lets you see your business hotspots and make sure you keep decent stocks of the things people want, so you don't get caught out too much

A few weeks back was the first time I bought something from them and given (I hope) that I am a savvy consumer it will be my last.

I ordered something and the girl I spoke to made me feel like I was interrupting her day by calling, they couldn't give any sort of timescale to deliver (several phonecalls didn't help), despite my pleading that I needed it for going to France (in a near real time logistical world - why should it take 2 weeks for something to turn up - I've had stuff from Hong Kong within 24 hours)

So I say shame on TT, I only hope their customers return the abuse and stop shopping with them, they have no right to be earning our money, there's an almost an arrogant expectation IMO that we will turn up like drones and hand the cash over.....:blast

I ordered something and the girl I spoke to made me feel like I was interrupting her day by calling

I ordered the large screen for the F800GS. I am off to Europe in 3 weeks and I placed this order at the end of June. A week passed and I heard nothing so I emailed them. I got a response from Neil who said the screen was still in Development.

If it's still in development then why the feck is it in your catalogue with a fecking price on it! :spitfire

Anyway having read others woes I decided to ride to TT and pick up the bit's myself. The woman behind the desk with the cockney accent and 'Am I bovvered attitude' acted as quoted above like I was interrupting her day. behind the counter was a sleeping baby in a push chair. I thought am I interrupting something here?

When I said I had already paid on-line she snapped back with a "Err no you didn't". Didn't I? I responded. Apparently they only bill you when they ship the goods.

When I asked if they had a spare allen key so that I could attach my luggage rack she barked back with "we don't borrow you tools". I smugly retorted with "I don't require you to borrow it to me, but if you could lend it to me that would be great". I clearly confused her. :aidan

I thought after spending £250 on the spot and also taking into account that they couldn't supply a few items on the order the least they could do was lend me a frickin allen key for 5 minutes. :mcgun

Can't say I'm too impressed. The only highlight was a chat with nick Plumb in the car park.

....behind the counter was a sleeping baby in a push chair. I thought am I interrupting something here?....

Perhaps the baby looks after the stock control.

To be honest i wouldn't have thought that under health and safety regs' that would be allowed, sounds a very dodgy practice.

Tossers (but not real ones)

Well iv sent a letter of complaint to all my MEPs,but reading through all these threads im guessing we might as well all piss in the wind. But i for one will def not be buying from them in the future and hopefully all the guys and gals here will do likewise, the adventure bike market is getting bigger and bigger here in the UK so you never know maybe just maybe they will regret taking the piss out of us.Also maybe guys like Chunk on here will florish and come up with stuff we can buy to do the job.Touratech may have a profit to make, and thats fine but TT uk maybe should consider their pricing and start getting their loyal customers on side,Mr Plumb might get to do a few more Dakars on my money.

Hear hear!

There's no point whining about Touratech and then buying their bits anyway!

Have a look at competitors like Rugged Roads and if their prices are comparable, why not give them a go?

It's only by hitting Touratech in its corporate wallet that the company will give a damn about us.

And can we presume you weren't starry eyed enough to tell Mr Plumb just how crap the service you received from his employees was ? :nenau

You are right sir. We had an interesting chat but I wasn't fawning over him like a love struck Beatles fan. I did say that they shouldn't advertise things that haven't been made yet and that managing expectations is the way forward. I'd rather someone say... 'Look it's in development' but we will start shipping in 6 weeks than let me order it and then find out it doesn't exist yet.

Nippy does quite a few TT parts now.
Just before the Hograost I needed some Rok straps - in fact nearly took a couple of hours off work to drive up to the new Touratech site and collect them in person. Anyway, after being told that Nippy Norman had them in stock and would send them out by First Class post I ordered them over the phone. In fairness they arrived the next day, but I was surprised that they had a Touratech sticker on them. :nenau

surprise surprise

Well i got a reply from one of the MEPs a Mr Tom wise(really) and he said that touratech had an agreement with other countries that they wouldnt poach business? WHAT!!! and that it was business, if a little unfair. I replied that i was part of this club called EUROPE one which i didnt get a choice to join, but pointed out that then as a EUROPEAN i should then be able to buy goods anywhere in europe with my hard earned without being ripped off.As expected he has'nt as yet replied lol i wont be holding my breath....Il wait and see what the others have to say, thats if they get time to reply between eating their prawn sarnies and necking champagne.....

If you want Rok straps try your local Honda dealer. I got several different sized ones from J2 Honda in Southampton......................and no TT logo:)

I've just priced up the following parts for my new GS:

1 x BMW R 1200 GS multitool

1 x Pivot-point cover BMW R 1200 GS and Adventure right side, silver

1 x BMW R 1200 GS kick stand support extension 2006 ->

1 x Petrol Line Protection - R1200GS

1 x Hard Part LA steering stop for the BMW R 1200 GS/Adventure, silver

1 x R 1200 GS Headlight Protector and Anti glare shield set

1 x BMW R 1200 GS and Adventure Throttle potentiometer cover

1 x Front clutch fluid reservoir guard BMW R 1200 GS / Adventure

1 x Stainless steel heel guard BMW R 1200 GS

1 x Oil cooler protection BMW R 1200 GS/Adventure silver

1 x Front brake fluid reservoir guard BMW R 1200 GS/Adventure

1 x Frame protectors BMW R 1200 GS/Adventure silver

1 x Side panel set for BMW R 1200 GS and Adventure 2008-Magnesium metallic matt

1 x Tankbag BMW R 1200 GS CORDURA®

1 x Handlebar mounting ZUMO MvG lockable

The Touratech UK bill came to £819.55

The exact same parts from .de came to €913.00

Taking into consideration a typical £/€ rate of 1:1.24 respectively that makes the direct de cost ~£730.

Those rates are atypical of most high street providers (at least according to my 3 minute web trawl!!)...:eek

For those of you reading this late at night or early in the morning or you have something heavy in your hands preventing you from using your fingers, :P that's a delta of circa

£89

Thus far I've not had the pleasure of experiencing the (apparently patchy) customer service from Touratech UK. I feel just like the rest of you inasmuch that I do NOT enjoy paying more for a product just because of my geographical location (post costs aside). :spitfire

However, I must also admit that TT stuff is some of the best out there.

Personally, I'll be having a conversation with a good friend of mine who lives in Germany!!!:aidan

As a footnote, didn't all this sh!t happen a few years back with cars???!?

I'd love to see de back down but then again we probably wouldn't see Nick Plumb racing again!!:o

P

This is not intended to cause offence to anyone in anyway

Come on guys, i don't work for TT or anything but bashing them every 5 mins does nothing!

I personally have bought a lot from them and never had any problems, over the phone or going to the shop in person.

Friends of mine have bought stuff as well with no issues! another friend had an order delay for what ever reason.
It happens!

Yes, stuff from TT UK is more expensive than Germany for what ever reason.

BUT..........

Petrol is more here than a lot of places in Europe. Lets moan about Esso, Shell, BP etc

Wine, beer, and other food stuff etc tends to be more expensive here than a lot of places in Europe. Lets moan at Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda etc.

If you don't like the TT service buy from Nippy Normans your still getting orginal TT fittings but don't have to deal with TT.
If Nippy Normans decided to sell it cheaper then great you've got a deal :thumb

What i'm trying to get at is i think DIXONs are S**t.
Expensive on a lot of things and not always enough stock so i don't shop there. I go elsewhere.

Hope i've not upset anyone?

:):):):):)
