Recently fitted the Touratech Electronic suspension to my 1250 gs and have found it to be excellent ,well bloody brilliant.
Some will say too expensive for an upgrade but as I spend my cash on my bikes for me its a sensible way to go.
The new system keeps all the electronic connection with the bike and works as the standard system. The new ride now is superb and soaks up all that is thrown up at it with ease.
First thing I noticed was how the suspension seems to work faster with more fluidity of damping action and accurate compression , the front especially seems like its working faster to follow every lump , bump etc allowing you push harder and faster but with a feeling of complete comfort and road contact , even in Dynamic.
The rear works as the front again with precision and feel , both together are an impressive combination , no adjustment need yet on the Hi Lo settings.
One section of a road I ride has a lot of dips and rises which before on the standard systems made the bike buckle a bit and reducing you speed was the only option , with the new system it just absorbed it even to the point of road jumping and raising the front wheel over 90 + mph , never been able to that before on that road without the fear of crashing , not now.

So to evaluate the cost , 100% worth it , again some will say I would say that as i have spent the £2900 on it but i have always tried to be honest and give a true picture , and hope the new connection with the road surface may help me get better tyre mileage as well ...:thumb2

Have been looking at the Tractive option (same as Touratech but cheaper) for my 70,000 mile Hexhead GSA so this is good. Did you have any installation issues/error codes ?

The Tractive unit and the Touratech unit for the LC was the same unit and same cost. I think the Hex Head is different and I think you can get Tractive inner replacement shocks unit using the same preload unit body .

There are several reasons for going to the Tractive unit for the Hexhead, mainly that you can remove the front EPA and do without it (which the later bikes did anyway), Touratech don't offer that version. Plus for these they are less blingy, cheaper and don't have to deal with Touratech/Touratech UK/Adventure Bike Whorehouse or whatever they are called this week :)

Software issue caused by incorrect fitting instructions.

Yes, but what happened?

Was it a case of unplugging, replugging the connectors?

Was it a full ECU meltdown?

Did you need BMW assistance for calibration, if so how long did it take?

All useful to know, cheers

Never really looked at the Hex head fitment , the new units on my 1250 Exclusive I feel look great.

On a flashy new WC GS they probably look good (they do look good actually), but my bike is a little more understated. Plus I don't want someone to see my bike with £3K of suspension and try and nick it :( As I said the clincher for me is that the Tractive units can remove all the front EPA crap that is completely useless so that is a really nice option.

Fair comment , hope the fitting goes well , mines always locked up or within striking range if you see what I mean lol
I had a 2011 Twin Cam and fitted the Wilburs ESA system and that was good as well.

The instruction stated to connect the shock in a certain setting , this was wrong , so when this was done there was a conflict of software / settings , so in effect the bike locked out the suspension and would not accept the new unit. I'm no computer bod , but basically the bike said no .
Rybrook then reset the system using the old shock and then I fitted the shock again ( replacement shock as wanted to make sure the first was not defective ) and hey presto using the correct instructions ,fitted and worked without a glitch , no re calibration needed as the system accepted the new shock / shocks.
When the bike was re set with the old (original shock back in ) the recalibration I think took 30mins .
I was unlucky but fitting was easy when using the correct information.

I have just had the Touratech D ESA rear shock fitted to my '17 GS.
Only done 50mls in the rain back from the dealer who fitted it while the bike was in for a service.
Early days yet, but during the short ride I can already tell that the new shock has more damping control as you gain speed.
I will give it workout this weekend two up, the main reason for getting it fitted in the first place.

Interesting rear shock only, that is my problem at the moment 2 up, now if that helps, you have just saved me wonga......:D

I went with TT's std spring which, I think, is rated for 100kg instead of the 80kg BMW spring, any stronger and it would affect solo riding too much. The bike now sits very slightly higher at the rear, the solo ride is very similar to stock with just a bit more damping, which is a goog thing. So far so good.
I will report back when I have put a few more miles on the clock.
The dealer charged about £150.00 to fit it.
