We are also thinking of a trip over the water this year on the bikes and I would be interested to know what particular places/things he was unhappy with...

Just got back on Sunday's sea cat crossing from Belfast, had a weeks touring around the coast line in a clockwise direction, Started at Rosslare and work our way around, crossed the Shannon at Tarbet and on up to the Cliffs of Moher, but was a bit to hazey to get the best views, then onto Ballyvaughan to seek out the soda shop for pancakes (as advised on this forum) it was closed, but the Spar shop just down the road has a nice pavement type cafe going on so dinner was sorted. we carried on up around Clifden,Westport,Sligo Donegal,Killybegs and up to the highest cliffs in Europe at Malainn Bhig and some of the best roads and twistys we found, we crossed from here to Letterkenny, Londonderry(or Derry) onto Portrush, Did the Gaintscausway here another UKGS'er said Hi Think he said his name was Dave 1999 or sumut, the rope bridge was closed due to Bad weather, did I mention it had been Pissing down for the last 3 days, whatever, called at Joeys memorial (nice) then back up to Ballycastle from here we took the
A2 coast road, Now for those of you reading this who havent been this is a must do road its Fantastic bit of coast road, and we did it in pooring rain, blowing a gale sea comming over the walls and it was still a great road. Sorry for the long post but the point being Yes some of the road surface is "Challenging" shall we say But thats why we ride a GS, the people every where we went were great no problems watsoever, the BBs were clean and plenty of them with no problems turning up on a bike in the rain, food was plentyfull with big helpings, the only bad point we had was the weather and thats no-ones fault,I think I said it was raining.

Yeah sorry I forgot the biggest bummer was the inch long slither of glass I removed from the rear tyre when we arrived back home, Newish tyre F**ked, new one ordered from steve at Kingston, But good fish n chips at Wetwang.

that was me! Glad you enjoyed the trip - I was with two friends from Canada and Italy which was why I was out at the Causeway on a wet day. The rope bridge opened just as we got to it which was lucky!

I feel for ye mate

It's not fair to have a go at someone just because he didn't like your country.

I went to Ireland for a day last year £1 each way on Ryan Air. Thought the guinness was a tad expensive but had a good time & would like to see more.

However, given the amount of EU money that has been pumped into Ireland you would think that all the roads and just about everything else should be perfect

Yorkshire used to be great now it's almost fekked.

Unfortunately political correctness prevents me from giving reasons!
