Tourtour is a village though, so a 10 km radius or so , but anyway thanks for your help as the resident French expert

Anyway, what takes you to the reasonably small place of Tourtour, one of nicest villages in France? Tripadvisor shows several nice looking hotels iin the place.

The Var region as a whole is pretty rural.

Thanks , that looks good , ref what takes me to it , some friends are heading over that way in May from where they live in Bordeaux , so i said i would meet up with them and then ride the roads around the region for a week or so, so we would base ourselves there for a few days.

We stayed HERE a few years ago. Was nice enough, cheap and clean, and did a great breakfast if I recall correctly.

Here's a suggestion.

You are getting together with friends, who are heading that way too.

These friends live in France. They may even be French, who knows? Either way, they have managed to find somewhere to live permanently in France.

You have accepted that the hotels will all be 'biker friendly' so that concern is now put to one side. Between now and May, engage your friends in lively banter over hotels they (and you) might think suitable within 10 kms of a small (but very pretty) village you have all decided on in the rural Var.

Your holiday lies in your hands, seize the opportunity. Strike a blow of independence. Laugh in the face of risk. Spit in the eye of caution.......
