A mate with a 2010 Adventure which is on 130k and is still on the original sensors!! He was saying how he’d found a setting with his GS911 that allowed them to show tyre temperatures as well as pressures. New one on me….

My wife's 2010 also has the original sensors at almost 160k. The RDC displays temperature compensated pressure so the sensors do indeed measure temperature but it isn't on the standard display.
I've been asking them to add this menu tick box for tyre temps to the GS911 for 8 years, they finally did it
been turning it on with motoscan since 2015 -
will be a new update on GS911 out very soon - allowing you to turn off the illegal children's brake lights on MY2022 onwards bike's

Just bought a pair of these. Bought because they come with the valve seal assembly etc. That little lot from BMW is €32 !?@#€&!
So I will be able to sort the rear valve assembly/ seal and two new sensors in the bargain for half the cost.
Btw, when I changed the tyre in Italy, I had a bollox of a story where I had to go back because the valve assembly was leaking - a lot. I got my wallet out and bought the new assembly at the €32
. But, I have to say, the old seal was hard and very clearly not doing its job. The front tyre now holds its pressure, I mean in 3 months it's been stable. The rear however needs a new assemble as it's quietly leaking all three time (over just a couple of weeks).So thank you Mistercat for sharing that screenshot

I have a 15 year old GS with 82k still using the original TPMS batteries. They will probably fail tomorrow now I've written that!
Aye, I saw this setting on Saturday anfter updating my GS911 WiFi edition to the latest, so I enabled it. I was also able to enable the heated grips to show on dash which it now does. I haven’t had it on the road to check if the temp works but it’s there on dash when you cycle through for tyre temp.
I was wondering the same; is a TPMS warning light being on an MOT fail?
Pay the money and get them replaced! Divide the cost by 10 (years) and you have a potential life-saving bargain.
I really do believe that these saved my skin on one occasion. Was blatting along in the outside lane of the M6 a couple of years ago when lights started flashing madly on the dash of my KTM 1290 GT. Just got onto the hard-shoulder when the back end started trying to throw me off the bike. Reckon the sensors gave me 5 to 10 seconds advance warning of a substantial cut in the tread of the tyre. But if you'd rather save a few quid and deal with an uncontrollable bike in the fast lane of a motorway then good luck with that and hope that the air ambulance isn't otherwise occupied!

Totally agree. Safety feature aside, I just don't like having kit which I know isn't mechanically 'right'.
It was more a question of whether it was a MOT fail as I wasn't sure that I would find the time to get it fixed before MOT time.
It turns out it wasn't a TPMS failure but my air gauge / operator error. I tested it on another gauge and the tyre was in fact under inflated. Pumped it up and warning message is now gone.
I have 5 bikes without tyre pressure monitors, should I be worried.
You are over dramatising this a bit.
All 5 also have no traction control.
I also have 4 without abs and manage to ride them all without worrying myself half to death.
I'm sure many more people are the same.
Well maybe a sudden tyre deflation at around 80 on a busy M6 isn't dramatic enough for you? You're a hard man. My other four bikes don't have pressure monitors though I've retro-fitted them on one of the other ones. I think what you're saying is that you haven't had opportunity to appreciate the value of these things ................................ yet.
I had a front tyre blow out in the 80's on a tubed tyre at about 70mph. Pressure monitors probably wouldn't have helped in that instance. It went down what seemed like instantly. I heard the bang, Managed to stay on, just.........
I didn't mean to belittle what you were saying. I just think some riders are getting to be too reliant on some of the electronic safety systems now which are fitted to almost every few bike. Some of the reason I've not upgraded to one.
I see what you are saying but if I'm travelling along at 80 mph on the motorway I would most probably miss the warning light coming on anyway as I wouldn't be looking at the clocks that much.
ABS and traction control etc are rider aids. TPMS is a keeping your head attached to your body aid.
