Found this, works for R850GS/R and R1100GS/R/RS/RT/

(dunno if it works for 1150s...)

Resetting the throttle position switch with a digital voltmeter:

1. Push back insulation from the throttle position switch connector

2. Insert two thin probe tips at pins 1 & 2 of the throttle position switch. Note that the connector should not be disconnected for this test.

3. With the ignition ON, measure the voltage with a high resolution digital voltmeter. With the throttle twistgrip at idle position (fully closed) the voltage should read between 360 and 370 mV.

4. Adjust the voltage by slowly and carefully moving the throttle position switch (rotation sensor) up, down or even in a circular motion. Note: extreme precision is required! Work slowly and methodically.

5. The voltage is approx.4.75 V at full load. Open the throttle twistgrip fully for this purpose.

so is it wires 1 & 2 or wires 1 & 4 for the 1150.

I tried taking a measurment across 1 7 4 on my 1150 but had no luck... mind you that could be because I don't know how to use a voltmeter

talking of which, I'm going to take my throttles to pieces at Easter to replace the return springs cos they're rattling like an old persons teeth.

I can get some more 2nd hand springs - I did this before and they were OK on another bike - but I'd prefer to get some new ones. I thought I read something about someone who rebuilds the throttles. They probably have access to new springs. Does anyone know somewhere that I could get some new return springs please?

Are you sure it's the springs that are the problem? Rattles / ticking from throttle bodies is nearly always worn bushes / throttle shafts.

BTW, this thread is 4 years old :D

See here for the latest thread on this:

I will ask the Tsiklonaut, he is due somewhere around here in the next 2 weeks:augie

Ta - I'll read the other thread. I've changed the springs on my other bike and they're fine now so I'll try that first

The latest version of the GS911 software has a setting page for the TPS it makes the process really really simple

The gs911 setting is based on basic factory standard (i've measured/compared it) .

The bikes tend to run better a bit higher up the scale ;)
