Track Day Tyres

(1150gs ) tourances old ones not ,next , only ever touched a peg once , but scrape crashbar bolts under cylinder ( sw motech )

just go out and ride as fast as you are comfy with ....it isn't a race.

+1. Original Tourance pre-chinese manufacture. They slide in a nice controllable fashion and build up brilliant molten beads on the shoulder which make a great impression on the easily impressed.

My instructor told me to hang off the bike more as I was riding off the side of the tread. He must have been right as I didn't fall off.

What track you thinking of doing? I instruct on TD’s and have raced most of the UK’s circuits, so I can probably give you a bit of guidance.
I also love taking the GSA on track in the right conditions and having a bit of fun!

I ride the 'BMW Club' days organised by Robert Bensley and have done for years with a few buddies. We enjoy the low key side of things as typically I ride ordinary or classic bike track days, so a fun day normally.

Cadwell & Snetterton to answer your question, both of which I've been round hundreds of times but always know there are things to learn so fire away.
I have followed the odd GS on these days when I was on my SDR or RSV4RF laughing away to myself..

M9RR as a few others have said. Road 5 is ok but is not a track tyre

Seems to get the most votes.. Will try and locate them but the 19" looks like it's unavailable in the UK at the moment.

Oh, we might have met then.

I skipped Rob’s days last year and stayed mostly local with trackdays, but was considering doing Snet with the club this year, to see some familiar faces and bring along a friend that refuses to participate in “normal” trackdays otherwise.

I'm doing one at brands in june and Cadwell in july, i reckon the road 5 s are all i need!

My choice now behind the Metz' & appear to be more available too.

I do like the slick shoulder and water clearing grooves design..

Well I'm going to order a set of the m9r or whatever there called! Got to go with real world opinion, maybe a convert lets see

Possibly we have. This year I'll be that guy on the GS!!! HP 1250..

The only track day I've done on mine was on the old-style Tourances. They were fine...

Haven't booked any Rob's days yet. Will probably do within the next month (if there is still space).
I'm the big Italian-sounding guy :D on the HP2 Sport.

I've seen the bike for sure - lovely looking thing.

He sends the entry forms first generally. He specified that it will go ahead if enough people sign up/show interest. It's obviously a bit tricky at the moment.
I got the mail early Feb.

Yes I'm all signed in so to speak

Apologies........ I assumed you were a TD virgin, so any advice I could give you would be on circuit.
That’s said you have perked my interest in these BMW Club days, so I will look into that.
Hussling a GSA around Cadwell would be interesting and the brake fade even more so :-)
Best thing about Snett is Coram into Murray’s. The worst thing is getting there and back :-)

GSMarky...The best track tire for the GS will be the M9RR...If it is available by now.
Otherwise all current tires will get too hot after a few laps if you are fast enough...Be aware of that & have fun !

If there's anyone doing tyres at the track it could be worth asking them about pressures as you're going to be working them harder than on the road so lower pressures are usually recommended.
