Tracks on to Routes

Hey up
I am trying to make a route up with some tracks and trails in it. Can I bugger like get my computer to acept where I want it to go.
OK I can create a track on me computer, but to convert this to a route is, for me a no-no
I have been down all the threads, cant find any similar questions
Is it possible please ????
I already know I am a numpty on IT stuff - but I am improoving
My unit is only a streetpilot 3 deluxe if that is ant help on version 8
Can I upload a track ??????
I know how to download one from the tracklog

If your tracks go places that the software does not recognize as roads, you will need to make your routes as offroad routes.

It's the price we pay for automagic routing... you are at A, you want to go over that field to B.... naturally you will want to follow the road around no?

If No is the answer then you need to route offroad, meaning the sofware doesn't try to do any guessing for you...

In the latest version of Mapsource. you go Edit, then Preferences, then select the routing tab, then check the box that says "Use Direct Routes".

If you have long spells of on-road routes, you may want to make separate off-road routes to save time... then select each as you come to it...

Another way (if your GPS allows you to display downloaded tracks), is to just make routes on the road bits, then just follow the track for the off-road...

And finally... if you decide to make Direct Routes... you need to turn auto route recalculation off on your GPS, or it will try to direct you around the off-road bits anyways...
