Trail ride. Llangollen area. Saturday 10th February.

Plenty of names now

I have plenty of names now:

Hairy Dave
Paul the spark
Hew
Alan B (x3)
Goody
Timolgra (maybe)

I will say this ride is full now, apologies if you missed it but I can't let the rides get too big as some of the lanes I use are reasonably sensitive.
I am planning another trail ride for Sunday 18th February. Please keep an eye on the Off Road Events section of this site.
Regards.
Timpo.

Next weekend...

Hello Folks.
I can lead a legal trail ride in the Llangollen area on Saturday 10th February.
All types of machine and rider ability are welcome, and as usual no body gets left behind.
The ride will consist of approx 120 mile loop, with fuel available after 40 miles, the lanes will be stone/rock, mud and water (maybe in the frozen form ).
Packed lunch should be carried.
If you are interested please reply to this thread so I can get an idea of numbers.
Regards.
Timpo.
PS. This is not an enduro, so no racing numbers will be required!:nono

Ok Chaps, I hope your all in fine fettle and ready for next Saturday's jaunt on the Llangollen lanes.
If got to service the DRZ on Wednesday as I'm out on it on Thursday with the TRF, going into Powys for a look round.
Then out again with you guys on Saturday, and then I'm doing a Mold/Denbigh run on Sunday with a novice. He will be using the DRZ, and I'll have a scoot on the XR600.
So, i hope the weather is fair for the next seven days.
Just got two nightshifts at work to get through and i'll be right.
See you on Saturday morning.
Timpo.

We're booked into the Abby Grange hotel for Friday and Saturday nights, so anybody wanting to meet up pre or post ride we'd be very happy to have a chat and a drink.

We are: Alan (DRZ), Stuart (CRF), and Jiff (WR). We were out in the Wye Valley yesterday and I had a tumble and sprained my thumb. So if it's not better by Friday Tim (KTM) will be taking my place.

Fingers crossed it'll be better, and look forward to a good weekend.

cheers,
Alan

I'll be there.
:thumb
I think i may have blown the shock on my bike, it's going to 'Kais' for a rebuild with stiffer spring and revalve but not until after the ride so if your behind me watch that back wheel kicking around:augie

Is there any likelihood of the ride being cancelled because of the weather ?

Need to know before tomorrow afternoon when we're travelling up.

cheers,
Alan

it's more fun in the snow :D

Erm...no! That didn't take much thinking about did it?:bounce1
Although more snow is forecast, the ride will be on.
I've been out this morning for a recce, and the lanes looked ok.
We can adjust the route and pace to suit, so don't worry as no body gets left behind.
Alan, ignore the road closed signs in Llangollen, your hotel is only a mile or so up that road and the closure applies to the A542 at Horseshoe Pass, which is further on.
The landscape looked fantastic and to be fair, the higher lanes looked a lot clearer than I thought.
I only know of one detour we wil need to take, as a huge tree has fell across the Byway. The County Council have been notified as it's way too big for me to handle!
See you all on Saturday morning at 0930.
Timpo.

Oh yes I'll be there.
this was 2 hours ago:thumb

Sorry for drifting off topic....

I like the Husaberg(currently ride a 450exc),how much fuel does it hold?
What are spares prices like?
Are the valves screw n nut like the exc or shim n bucket?
How high is the airbox?

Thanks.

9.5 litres but it's rumour that Clarke are may be making a larger one in the near future.

I checked on spares before I bought and they seem quite cheap and readily available.

Valves are adjusted by screw and nut..easy, peasy

The air box is in the top tube of the frame so it couldn't be any higher and there are a few tricks to divert water away from the filter.
The airbox also accounts for the fantastic bark of induction noise when you wack the throttle open and dislocate your shoulders:thumb2

I can't wait to see this...
I know of people that would pay good money to watch this, as for me, I get to see it for free!:thumb
Sarah Teach is wondering WTF I'm laughing at.........

Thanks for the info....pretty much like a slightly more tuned KTM with an higher airbox.:D :D

It's taken the guys 5 hours through blizzards to get to the hotel, and I'm not with them !!! Sprained thumb from last week still frozen so I can't ride.

So it's Stuart, Jiff and Tim you will be meeting at 9.30am.

Hopefully conditions will clear slightly for tomorrows ride, have a good one, and look forward to hearing reports.

Will try and repeat the experience in a few months time - without quite as much excitement.

cheers,
Alan

Take care

I have to say guys.. please take care. We have had some decent snow fall up here in Buckley and the roads are dangerous to say the least.

The ambulance service is presently in flintshire unable to meet all of its call outs, and responce times are very long. Had several local radio warnings.

So watch it out there. Have fun..

OK Alan. The ride is still on.
I will be at the RV as arranged.
Unfortunately you aren't a site Sponsor so i can't PM you my mobile phone number, sort that for next time.
I hope your hand repairs itself and give me a shout for a ride up here when at 100%.
Cheers.
Timpo.
