Looking at another thread i see some people want to see and feel some dirt and no longer love the look of there bike.

As it seems to be mainly dirt virgins we will run a day for newbies.
The pace at the start will be slow with lots of advice on hand.

I will keep the first section on hard pack for about 3-4 hours so road tyres will do.
The second section will be more boggy so either a good rider or off rd tyres.

The third section take it 50 meters at a time and you will get through it.
We need a minium of 4 riders to go on to this section as it takes 4 people to lift a GS over a tree if going back is not an option and it takes 3 people and a well placed rope to pull one of these beasts out of a bog hole.

SAT 19th of january 9am Leaving my place out side enniskillen.
post code to follow. Kettle will be on from 8.30am We need a minuim of 2 people to have the craic This in not an insured run and we will be going as friends.

In the intrest of protecting the trails of this area no switiched on gps units are allowed. But if you remember where they are go ride them and respect the land owners there property and livestock.

I am on for this, all being well.
Do we need take lunches or anything else - first aid kit springs to mind !!!

No plenty of places to eat. A bar of chocolate and a bottle or 2 of water.
I carry a first aid kit but you bring yours and we deff wont need them.

If you promise to go easy on us "newbies" then I might be up for this.

It will be grand up to lunch and if it does not rain for a few days after lunch will be fine too.

Lough derg. where all the bridesmaid partys go to lose a few pounds quick.
Some people go there to pray and fast as well.

Did a two day trip with Brian in 2011 and had a fantastic weekend, Enniskillen proved to be a top place to stay, good food and Guinness. He know the trails in the area like the back of his hand and also his knowledge of the local and not so local people and history was really impressive. You will have a fantastic experience on a trip he leads.

Guys a weather outlook for Fri and Sat :

FRIDAY ... Early morning rain or drizzle near west coast, milder. Snow or sleet may develop for a time in the early morning further east then it should change to rain during the morning or mid-day with potential for 10-20 mm rainfalls. Accumulations of snow possible on hills in Ulster. Morning lows near -1 C northeast, +2 east coast, +5 C west and highs 7-10 C for most in developing southerly winds 40-70 km/hr veering to westerly, although Ulster more like 3-6 C in southeast winds becoming southwest later.

SATURDAY ... Variable cloud, chilly with mixed wintry showers developing over northern regions, rain showers elsewhere with some hail and even thunder, strong winds (south backing to east) may develop late in the day but details still uncertain at this point ... lows near 2 C and highs near 7 C at best.

Doesnt look great for a ride out at the moment, whats the thoughts?

It never dry in Ireland :(

If there's no frost should be okay... All depends on the route!

Could be baptism by fire

We will now meet at palmbush filling station 1 mile west of kesh at 10.00am
our place is on the hills and if there is snow we get it. Some people are coming a long way hence the 10am start. if the snow does come bad we may call off. my number is 07968135310 if you want to ring before you leave.

Thanks Brian!

Snowing in Cavan at the minute ... so will see what its like in the morning.. give you a shout either way...

Cheers
