After this years brilliant and successful TAT trip http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=276134, I'll be running this again in 2012. We will have a few changes to the itinery to include more time in the high passes of Colorado and myself and Skygod will be running this. We will run it in September as the weather is a lot cooler and flights, motels etc should be a little cheaper due to being out of the main holiday season. The basic information is as follows:

3 week trip departing Knoxville TN on Sunday 2nd September 2012 and arriving in Albuquerque NM on Friday 21st September 2012
Maximum of 12 dirt/dual sport bikes
Bikes transported to and from the US in a fully insured container so please add approx 5 weeks either end of the trip for transportation.
The trip is approx 3500 miles with 90% being dirt.
All motel accomodation on the trip.
All TAT mapping supplied if you need them
I supply all the info regarding bike prep, insurance, what you can expect and what it will cost

PM me for more details, prices and approximate costs for you to budget for etc.

It's a brilliant trip, hard work in places and it will stretch you but you'll not forget it that's for sure. It's not for people you have never ridden dirt before but you don't need to be Simon Pavey either. We will have a day in the Peaks before the trip so we can show you briefly the kind of roads you can expect to ride.

We had a great selection of bikes on this last trip but the minimum to do the trip comfortably would be 400cc. I reckon a 600/650 dual sport is perfect. We had a 950 KTM this time but I would only let another large bike come if it was obvious the rider was very competant as you will struggle on some of the dirt roads. Please also remember that we do a big mileage so a full on dirt bike like may not be the right choice because you have to have a level of comfort. However, the choice is yours.

Just so everyone is aware and no-one accuses me of spamming, this trip is being advertised elsewhere as well but all UKgsers get a considerable discount from non forum members. I have a lot of interest so I want to give UKgsers every opportunity to get their names down if they want to go.

should have had one from me 1st thing this morning :thumb2

Chris, I just want to thank you again for this amazing opportunity you gave to me and others to do this, back at work now and enjoying that too.

I would love to do this trip all over again, and change nothing apart from the odd thing on the bike.

I learn`t that big glossy motels are not where its at, and that I like American people.

If anybody is umming and areing about going, just do it if you can manage your time off.

It will turn your thoughts on a number of things, I was luck to be able to manage 3 /4 days in New York as an opener this also helped me to adjust.

So I`m sure you`ll have a reserve list, please put my name on it every year !!!!

How's it going??

I just came across this post and I'm wondering how it's going. You should all be knee deep into it by now. I hope you'll post some pictures and stories when you all return. Cheers, from Guy Kemp, GSessories Inc.

Think your post is about a year early :blast

The TAT trip isn't a Dakar style blast and is a huge mixture of riding and road/track conditions ranging from long flat hard packed dirt to deep, slippy mud and high rocky passes.

A 400DRZ would be OK for the trip. What you would lose on the long straight bits through Southern Kansas and Oklahoma you would get back in the Rockies where it would be brilliant and you would be laughing at the guys on the bigger bikes as the sweated up dried river beds:augie

A lot of riders on the TAT use these and similar engine sized bikes so you wouldn't have an issue:thumb

I still have a couple of places left for this brilliant trip.

If you are interested, please PM me and I'll send you all the relevant info :thumb
