Hey guys,

I hope I'm being daft here rather than having a sensor fault or something.

I just dragged the 1250 out after several months of using other bikes. The bike is running great but the first thing I did was fill up with fresh fuel and reset all the trip counters. Trip 1 reset to 0.0, but is now stuck there. I did a 50 mile trip and the odometer is increasing, the speed is showing correctly, but Trip 1 is still at 0.0.

Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!

its worth a try to disconnect the battery for ten mins then reconnect and try that

There are two trip counters, are you looking at the other one ???

Is the reset switch stuck in ?

Did you check the trip more than 6 hours after your ride as there is a setting to reset the trip automatically after 6 hours or if date change.
Resetting trip computer Calling up the trip computer ( 113). Press down the MENU rocker button. Select Autom. reset or Reset all values and confirm. If Autom. reset is selected, the on-board computer is automatically reset if a minimum of six hours have passed and the date has changed since the ignition was switched off.

What Barney said.
Mine resets at midnight.

So I tried disconnecting the battery for a while and no different. Everything can be reset, or auto reset as you'd expect. Trip 2 counts up, the speedo works etc. etc. but Trip 1 is stuck at 0.0. My dealer is baffled. They've offered to pick the bike up and reload all of the software...

I've got a 2023 F900. I've developed the exact same fault in the last week or so. Only trip counter 1 has stopped. Speedo, odometer, trip counter 2, everything else etc works as it should. It hasn't had a flat battery or anything, and it gets reset every time I fill it with fuel. I've tried resetting everything a couple of times with no joy. It is in the dealer next month for a service anyway, but I don't want to have to wait until then. I've got no warning lights and nothing has happened that I can think of.

I'm sort of glad someone else has experienced it! :)

I appreciate all the suggestions from everyone about how to reset the counters etc., but this is definitely a glitch and not something that can be resolved with the menus. The reason my dealer offered to pick the bike up is he said they'd hook the bike up to the servers in Germany to update all the software including the TFT, and it can take a good couple of hours. I'm just deciding whether to take them up on the offer or wait until spring.

I’ve tried disconnecting the battery as well. No joy either

OK, so my bike got collected from the dealer today and they called to say it's working, after they turned off the automatic reset option of the trip counter. I queried this as the automatic reset is meant to zero the trips "if a minimum of six hours have passed and the date has changed since the ignition was switched off". The service engineer was then a bit stumped, as he agreed that riding the bike should increase the trip counter irrespective of an automatic reset. Eventually we settled on maybe toggling the automatic reset actually cleared something else that was glitched in the settings, and it was that that allowed trip 1 to start working.

One other thing. I have a Chigee AIO-5 on the bike that received a new firmware update before the use of the bike a few days ago. Although a device connected to the nav connector shouldn't do anything to the trip counters (I think), this was removed before I gave the bike to the dealer. I'm now looking into whether the AIO-5 can access and alter the trip computer...

So deeeff, try toggling automatic reset in the trip computer. And if you've got a Chigee, take it off. Let me know if either work for you. :)

Are you me?

Exactly the same happened! Took it to BMW, they said it’s working, before they did any work on it. And I did take the CHIGEE off, also updated just before I noticed the fault.

Sadly, they gave me a 1300GS as a loaner, and now I want a new bike, haha

Hmmm. It does look like the latest Chigee firmware might be to blame. I hadn't considered that the Nav devices and hence the Chigee could access the trip computer but it appears they can. The Nav at least has functionality to reset the trips. I'll be interested to see if the problem comes back when the Chigee is reinstalled, and whether a subsequent factory reset of the Chigee fixes it.

Sorry to hear you need a new bike! :D

I’ll try and see if there’s a firmware update. I’ve put a post on the CHIGEE group, but it might be worth me taking it up with them

I've just emailed the Chigee support team. I'll update this thread if I hear back. Please let me know if putting the Chigee back on reintroduces the problem. My bike is stuck at the dealers for a few days until they can drop it back. :(

OK, from Chigee today:

"We truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. This is indeed a known issue, and our technical team has already been notified and is actively working on it. Please rest assured that we are treating this matter seriously."

Can’t fault their customer service.

I did notice that it was doing it on the loan bike as well. I updated the firmware to the latest beta version and it was working this morning.

So which version did you installed, 1.6.6. or 1.7.5? I've just upgraded to 1.7.5 Beta and now having same issues, Trip-1 is frozen into zero :) Now I'm thinking to downgrade Chigee verison to 1.6.6...
