Hi all,
we plan to have a trip in Morocco starting end of March for two weeks.
We will be 3 bikes (1150GSA, F650GS and a KTM 990). The beemers will be loaded with passengers. We are all leaving from Mallorca, Spain and will take 2 ferries to get to Morocco.

My question is about the following route. In our second day, we were thinking of doing the following route: Midelt, Imilchil, Gorges du Todrá, Tinerhir, Erfoud and finally Merzouga.

How is the road condition on these route and its difficulty level? We will have knobbies tyres on but still good to know. Do you think this route can be done in one day without getting stressed? Our F650GS rider is not as experienced as the rest of the group plus has a passanger. Would you recommend this route?

Thanks in advance for your comments. I am sure I will have more questions as the route planning process continues.

I did Midelt, to Merzouga in one day, but not via Tinerher, last May, is was quite do able, but got very hot. all road or very packed Sand.

BTW there is a sand sculpture just off (about a mile) on the road from Merzouga to Tinerher, but the ground was too sandy for an GS650 and Transapl on basically road tiers.

best of luck

The route between Midelt and Imilchil is partly piste, so your plans to travel from Midelt to Merzouga are ambitious.

This picture was two years ago Midelt to Imilchil, of course things will have change, but the question is..for better or worse?:D

I remember that corner well. The second time I did the piste I was sweating in anticipation but it went OK.

Hats off to Steve Attwood, however, who did it in ice and snow (pic 1 below, taken in opposite direction) before getting snowed in for three days at Lake Tistlit.

The second picture is of the second section of pistes.

It's weird how quite extreme positions don't look that bad in photos. :nenau

Viatormundi has had quite a few responses to his questions on HUBB.

I think, perhaps, it would be best if I don't attempt that in the car :)
