Trip To Rome —— BY TRAIN

One of my 7 travel days includes Lincoln to Strasbourg via LNER first class and Eurostar premium and another travel day back home (possibly Amsterdam-Lincoln) so leaving me 5 days worth of European train travel.
The Lincoln - Strasbourg journey on day one would have cost more than the pass on its own.
You could use five days just looking around Florence; lovely city; although i must admit i nearly killed us whilst having a brain fart in the traffic; trying to remember where i'd parked the bike was also a pain ; unfortunately we only had time for one day; i love train travel and your idea is stirring my wander lust. :beerjug:

Owned by friend of a friend. Had people staying over and were happy.
You can walk everywhere and near Monti.

For Monsieur: there is plenty of places in Rome that are away from the busy areas (just stay in southern part, or around EUR or so, or around Monteverde or one of the villas). But if you wanna stay completely outside of the city looks around the lakes. Trevignano (lake Bracciano) is very nice (and very small). But again: driving required.

Frascati (castelli Romani) lately became a bit more "alive" than what I remember from when I was a kid.
Had dinner there last year and it's full of small bars/drinking holes, there is people around. Should have a regular train service as it is effectively roman hinterland.

By ‘five days’ I mean 5 travel days so could stay 2/3 days at several places just as long as I use all 7 travel days within one months…if that makes sense
