Hello,
Thought I`d just post some pitures of my first proper ride on the GS :clap There was 4 of us on 3 bikes, my mates Jay(ukser), Andy(KTM) Myself and Wife, Dawn. We only had a long weekend(bank holiday at thend of May) so planned on going to Wales staying in Hotels, it worked out about 900 miles, leant plenty of stuff for future trips and we had a great time.

Just getting ready to leave at Andys house

We went south on the next morning, had a ride round on some nice roads then went along the Abergwensen pass to the Devils Staircase, possibly one of the most enjoyable bits of the Weekend.

We got to the next hotel in Penrhyndeudraeth, a very nice hotel with good views of Mount snowdon and surrounding areas. It had the best resturant of the whole weekend, had some drinks with the hotel owners after our meal, they were bikers too so told us about some nice local roads.

The next monring, we roamed around Snowdonia, on some good roads for the morning then headed north towards the coast

Stopped here on A4212 reconmended stop if you`re near by, the lamb in a box from the van at edge of road is superb(if you can sit eating while watching the lambs run around)

this road is a corker(B4391 first half between A4212 and Ffestiniog), but watch for the sheep, they`re roaming all over the road.

All in all a good trip with no dramas:JB

We`re planning a trip in early September but not sure where yet, hopfully Northern Spain if money will allow it, but probably The lakes. Next year were hoping to get to Noway and Sweden, My wifes half Norweigian so we`ve already got some accomadation sorted. Till then, just Sunday morning breakfast rides I guess.

Nice pics and report thanks for sharing:thumb2
Abergwesyn/ Devil's staircase is one of my favourite local (ish) roads, haven't been up there for a while, I feel a midweek ride is in order next week ;)

Is that your old house on the end of the red mark? That must`ve been awsome having that road as your route to work. I`ve only been to Wales a couple of times before this trip, and to be honest I never really saw Wales until I went on the bike, It`s a beutiful country, I`d love to live there. I think the roads around mid Wales were my favourites, but North Wales was great also. It was quite depressing coming back home to the pot holed, busy, police strewn roads of North Essex.:tears

Do it, wish I could come with you:nenau I wish I left more time for the Staircase, can you ride the tracks of the main road through? It looks like on google earth there`s a network of tracks nearby, looks like someones thrown a ball of string at the map. The weirdest thing I had up there, was a bloke reversing his car out of a garage in the middle of the pass! The garage was right on the edge of the mountain, with no houses or building anywhere near it, I thought I was seeing things at first

Yes I've lived there twice!
Friends live there now so I still go there regularly.

To road you mention is one of my favourites but there always gravel on a few of the bends to keep you on your toes as you dodge the sheep:D

Just off the road in the left of your photo is an old Drover's road bridge. There a story of a drover returning from London with his cash after selling livestock and being persued by robbers.
He stayed in the Red Lion in Bala where they caught up with him. He fled and hid under that bridge where the robbers passed over, not noticing him.

I love the history which is unseen in so many parts of the country where to our eye, it seems a desolate and empty place.
