I am off this afternoon to Budapest. Today is only a short ride to Ashford to meet up with the group for dinner and drinks prior to getting an early train tomorrow morning.

I am leading a group of 13 bikes (all Harleys) on my HD Pan America. We are going to do some motorway tomorrow morning to get down into Germany and then take some more interesting roads in the afternoon ending up in Trier for the night. Then it's Ulm, Zell am See, Graz and into Budapest. Basically dropping South quickly and then riding West to East through the Austrian Alps, hitting Gerloss, Grossglockner and some other passes on the way. There's HD's 120th anniversary party in Budapest for four days, and then it will be home via a more northerly route via the Czech Republic and the beer capitals of Czeske Budejowice and Plsen.

I'm taking my laptop, so will try to post some pics each evening. (By the way - just noticed the AWESOME upgrade to the site in that I can just drag photos from my laptop to posts, rather than having to save them to SmugMug or similar first....)

Right now, I am taking the bike to get a new set of tyres. As this trip (and the next few coming up) will be 100% road, I am going for Pirelli Road Angel GT2s. Never had them before, but they mostly get very good reviews, so we shall see.

Oh what fun. 2 weeks on the bike and leaving my 3 boys alone in the house (18-23)......luckily I have Ring security cams throughout so at least will have evidence if they do bad shit.

Sounds good. Have a great trip and look forward to the pics.
Is that a spotlight on the front mudguard ?

Nope. It’s a Denali D4 on an aux light mount. It’s just the angle that make it look like it’s on the mudguard. There’s another one on the other side…..

Sounds a great trip! Enjoy!
Hoping your kids haven’t hacked into your cameras so nothing untoward shows up :)

Have a great time
Ridden my bike in Budapest (and to & from) quite a few times, first visit was 1997
Great city (watch out for the tramlines on a bike though, they’ll have you off)

Where’s the Road Captain flag and waistcoat ?
Have fun .

Your kids will put the cameras on a loop of hoovering and washing up:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Enjoy your trip.

A quick stop at Maidstone HD for some free swag, water and a smoke. I New tyres seem very good, even if it is still early days.

Not needed today! Will be on tomorrow and blocking the nice cool air that should flow through my mesh jacket.

Sounds a great trip.

Your kids won’t trash the house, they’ll be too busy helping old ladies cross the road 👍

Some bikes

The Indian and the Ducati aren’t ours.

The obligatory “we made it to the tunnel” shot. Last chance for a proper British bacon roll before all that foreign muck…

Safe travels. No doubt your lads will be seeing how high they can get the temperature on your Monolith kamado oven before it explodes 🤔😁

Judging by the road signs, you haven’t got very far. I’d guess at the petrol station, three minutes off the Chunnel :D :beerjug:

Exactly that. Waiting for two bikes that weren’t allowed onto the train we booked. They were being nazis about 20 bikes per train this morning.

But now in Trier safe and sound and doing some more “route planning”…

Went via France, Belgium, Luxembourg and then into Germany.

We did the first 215 miles on motorways and then took some fantastic twistiest for the last 70 miles into Trier.

How to pack light. Wash and drip dry overnight.

Weird chicken schnitzel at a services in Belgium. Food should start improving now we are off the motorway.
