Triple ...........

If you want I can talk you through the interlocks related to the igniter by phone. For example if you put the bike in gear while the side stand is down it kills the engine - that's what the green wire is for so if it grounded you won't get a spark at all

Nick,

I appreciate the gesture, however, I don't have a green wire to ground, neither do I have a white wire. The main feed up to the coils is green / brown and not red etc etc etc.

If I had wiring diagram that corresponded with the loom from my igniter it'd be a piece of cake, however I just have three anonymous wires of dubious virtue. Herin lies my problem!

Can you post a pic of your igniter showing the attached (as in moulded-in) wires? What you describe sounds odd

I wouldn't usually do this in a project thread but what the heck!

Here's the Cdi igniter harness

From right to left -

Black - Ground
Brown / Yellow - Coil signal
Green / Grey - Coil signal
Blue / Yellow - Coil signal
Green / Brown - Common coil power bus which feeds all three coils (which also has a spliced feed back to 12v+ for power)
Black / Purple - Unidentified feed which shows 4.5v+ at the meter
Red - Originally fed the ignition light in the clocks, shows 9v+ at the meter
Black / White - originally connected to the side stand switch, shows 4.5v+ at the meter
Blue / Purple - Signal wire to CDi pickup
White / Blue - Signal wire to CDi pickup

I measured the resistance of the Cdi pickup again and it's a steady 572 ohms with a slight variation as the ignition trigger passes.

I'm prepared to make a donation to the charity of choice to any of you guys that can find a wiring diagram that matches the colour configuration of this harness. It's from a 2001 Triumph Legend TT :thumb

FINALLY!
I now have a spark!

A beautiful Triumph Stag pulled up outside my workshop today, the chap was lost and needed directions. We struck up a conversation about restoration, me bikes, him cars. An utterly nice bloke. We got to talking about the Triple and eventually onto the subject of the Cdi conundrum. "I'm happy to take a look" he says ..... "I'm a lecturer in electronics" ........... I mean what are the chances!

He walks out to his car and returns with one of those silver flight cases containing an Oscilloscope ..... I kid you not!!!
An hour later and we have a nice fat blue spark ...... absolutely top guy! :clap
I've come home now what with it being a Bank holiday.
I shall resume tomorrow!!!

Wow what a stroke of luck eh,i bet you couldnt believe it.
I should pop out and get a lottery ticket now, must be your lucky day.
Looking forward to the next installment.:D

You must have put some good into the circle of life at some point Tunner.

The end game is in play.

Cheryl Cole dropped by in a Jensen Interceptor this morning to bring me my lottery winnings .......... Hmmm if only Karma was that kind eh!! :blast

However ........... TRIPLE LIVES!!!

(Best heard through decent speakers!)
