Trouble downloading maps.

Garmin Streetpilot 2610, Mapsource city navigator v.9 installed on computer.
I have made my maps that I want to transfer, but when I do it will not find my device, it identifies 'removeable drive F' only and will not transfer saying data card not ready. Device is switched on, and is identified by mapsource,but will not find it.
Is it me, the device or the computer? I have re-installed v9.

Any suggestions anyone please..........................

Have you got another port you can use to connect the 2610 to the computer?

There are 3 ports on my laptop and for some reason my left hand one always works.

Thought about that, tried them all, The confusing thing is last time I put some routes on for Morocco it worked fine on both the 2610 and Quest, hense totally bemused

Have you tried formatting the card?

Personally, I always use a card reader rather than downloading directly to the Garmin 2610. Takes much less time as the card reader is USB2 whereas the 2610 only operates at USB1.0
