Got a test ride on a 990 SMT on Friday, then on a Triumph Tiger Sport on Saturday, currently got a 2011 GSA.

Has anyone got any experience of riding all three bikes so I have an idea what to expect?

No, but I bet you end up with an SMT! :D

I did a demo write-up on the Tiger Sport earlier this year. A good solid bike with a loverly engine. I also demo'd the SMT a couple of years ago when they first came out and although I wasn't going to part with my 12GS at the time, between those two bikes today, the SMT would get my vote as it's without doubt the most fun tool in the box and every bit as capable of doing crazy as well as covering big miles with ease.

Found the tiger engine a bit whizzy like a jap four also felt a bit purched on top of it , was glad to get back on my 1150 Gs
Test road a smt and had to have one :D
I love twins though so I am bias, for me a bike must have two cylinders or two strokes :beerjug:

JSC,

Don't bother with the others, just go and buy the SMT cos that's what you'll end up with! :clap

Had mine for 2 years and nearly 19,000 miles now, still loving it :D

More info here re service costs etc, on post 9 if you'd like to read it :-

The SMT is as much bike as you'll ever need, still makes me laugh every ride!

Thanks everyone for the replies, I think I am leaning towards the KTM already but apparently there is a shortage of new bikes at the moment and no more coming in to the country until the new year.

Get it and get it quick, but if you have to wait...it'll be worth it!

Iv'e only gone and done it!!

Well, tested it this morning, not the best weather for it but I mainly wanted to see what the fuelling was like and I have to say... it was perfect!
As long as you know what a V-twin engine is supposed to be like (had a Tuono)
its fine, loved the power, felt small at first compared to the GSA but loved the ride and build quality.
I didn't quite get as good a deal as I wanted but I fell in love so iv'e left a deposit and am picking it up next week!
Cancelled the test ride on the Tiger Sport now. :D:D:D

Anyone want to buy a GSA??

Is it a new SMT you are buying? If so is it 2013 colours or 2012? and what price? You can pm me if you prefer.
The reason i'm being so nosey is i'm trying to do a deal myself for one but have been told there isn't any 2013 ones left or available anywhere?

It isn't brand new, it's an ex demo bike, 2013 in Black with the Orange frame.
I phoned round my closest dealers and this one was about to put their demo bike up for sale next week so I managed to get over there and put a deposit down.
The dealers I spoke to (including this one) haven't got any new ones and say they won't be getting any until early next year.
It was up for sale for £9000.

Black with the orange frame looks the business. There seems to be a shortage of new ones available.
Enjoy your new bike.

Nice one, enjoy! Absolutely brilliant bike which constantly brings a smile. Have had VFR, Blackbird, ZX12R, ZX10R, GS, K1300R and none of them have brought as many smiles. Am about 6 weeks into ownership of a 2012 model but have discovered it's 2013 spec - rebound adjuster on the rear suspension is on the rhs of the shock, not the left as shown in the 2012 handbook. Been fiddling with the suspension for best pillion setup and feel I got it pretty good for a ride out today - basically standard preload, comp and rebound on front with sport preload, comp and rebound on back. Haven't done the whole static sag etc but today worked really well (I'm 12st 10 out of gear, her indoors 9st 7). Tried Puig deflector on standard screen to cure buffeting (although I've found helmet choice makes a difference too), but it caused a bit of a vacuum and clunking helmets. Fitted the Givi screen last night and it's great.

Health to ride :aidan
