wherres the piccie from where u turned the bike into a submarine

did u not drown the bike riding thru here

Not the first time. ;) Everyone thought it would make a good picture so I went back and did it again. Unfortunately I took a different line the second time and it did drown. :( Picture was taken a second or so before it did. :D You can see that I'm heading for the deep bit to the left of where I should have gone.

BTW, that's the Pomahaka River south of Roxburgh. You can see the bridge to the right that everyone else went over.

Protection depends on where you plan to use it.
On the road the Carbon may do well, but in the Rocky stuff :nenau
With 4 HP2's we have prety good experience with crashing during Enduro rides.
We crashed in Spain several times on the rocks and sand/stone roads.
The plastic HP2 thingy's went in the first 10 mph crash. The alloy bmw ones went as fast as the plastic HP2 ones. For crash protection they will not do at all. The condoms worked marginaly. Got us about 10 mls before the oil was gone anyway.
Only real crashbars will do a better job. I have the Wunderlichs on. They fit nice over the plastic thingy's, so your legs ar not damaging the electronics.
The weight is higher, but with punctured heads You won't be able to ride.
I lost weight myself to compensate

my 2 cents

I remember that, jolly good entertainment :beerjug:

Thought I'd join in here, I picked up my HP2 on Saturday, can't seem to wipe the silly grin off me face :) Dakar now firmly ensconsed in the garage (and clean) and suspect will not get any use now.

You have tested the head protectors then:bounce1 .
I'm not interest in dropping the bike at 50kph on the road.:nenau The guards are for off road riding and dropping the bike on the tracks. I have an RT for on road and I don't have bars on that. I don't like the look off the things.

Bloody showie JAFA's....look how clean it is.... cylinder protecters? didn't think washing brush was that harsh..:augie

Head protecters

Bit of a hijack...Sorry.

I have a set of Wunderlich bars that i have taken off mine as i am going the supermoto route with mine. very light scratches to one side where they scaped a bank....£110 + p and p

Been to the BMW offroad school x3 times and the guys told me they have given up on try to use and protection as it was costing more to replace.... not really and issue for them as they have a van to take the bike back if un rideable.

Have a look at these alot cheaper..

They look like an interesting option but I feel that the Wunderlich covers will spread the load of an impact a little better. I think that for off-roading, the main issues are impact rather than making a hole from sliding. I think once I have destroyed my existing carbon covers I will be going with another set.
