TT Mount for SP 2610 . It's to nice .

The top bar of the Touratech mount lays directly across the internal aerial of the 2610, and can weaken the signal.
The only time I had loss of signal was just off the Marlow bypass of all places, otherwise I have not had an issue with the TT mount, adding the external did not make a huge difference as far as I could tell and accuracy often sits at an indicated 3m regardless.

i have experimented using the signal strength info screen on my 2610 to gauge the difference between using the built in aerial & a remote whilst fitted to the TT mount & the results indicate a big difference.

This could be down to aerial as mine was a cheapie for a tenner off fleaBay - out of interest where do you have your GPS and aerial located?

Mine is at an angle at the top of the nacel over the instruments and I have since read a better location is on the Brake master cylinder where it is ina more horizontal plain.

Having said this I still had very few issues before adding the aerial and this includes locations in mainland Europe and Scandinavia. In fact the biggest issues are always UK (A bit like the standard of roads!)

gps is mounted in different places on different bikes. aerial is velcroed to the top of the front brake master cylinder on both of them though.

only place i found better was to mount it at the top of the screen, but that would have needed another bracket to get it flat & it wasn't that much better.

seriously, i've never found the tt/ 2610 to be a problem, but it is mounted as near to the vertical/horizontal plane as i could get it, without it being to far out of the line of sight. exelent bit of kit, but it has scratched the plastic on the bottom of the unit.

Only works with certain screens, and they have to be pushed far forward. No good with a MRA multi-vario screen, you have to have the mount set so low it's right in front of the instruments :(

And you'll need a remote ariel with a TT mount ;)

Check out this post on BMWRS site - it shows how much rake you can have on the screen with the mount on the instruments:

We need ....

... some one to do a bulk buy of the silver TT mounts for all those GS'ers who've bought a 2610 of gpsw. :sunshine

If so, can I be first in the queue? :thumb

But that's with standard screen, which is quite curved.

Sorry - here's me thinking I was helping

Thanks for the constructive criticism :thumb
