Hi Jonny, why not do the work yourself? Would that not be more beneficial if you have issues during the Rallye if a support crew is not to hand - :nenau

Me

I am doing ! but ABW is overseeing it, I have a great opportunity for Jonno to teach me the tricks of trade, I usually get to the same outcome but take a lot longer with a lot more mistakes, Jonno's wiring skills are exceptional. He see's very simple solutions to problems.

What can I say, I'm capable of doing it on my tod in my dingy shed, but I prefer to have that expertise to hand. First time rally and I will take all the help I can get. :cool

Plus Steve was originally the one who talked me into the rally in the first place...:blast

Looking good Jonny, glad to see its off the ground :thumb2

Get all that wire wrapped in spiral wrap to protect it. And get any trip 'puter sensor well tucked in somewhere safe. In fact, get two computers so you have fail over or want something to monitor distance versus fuel.

Source yourself a compass repeater, those GPS's have tiny compass headings - you want to be outputting NMEA data and feeding a bigger display rather than trying to ride through God knows what in Morocco and trying to read a tiny bit of text, it could be the cause of a nasty off whilst squinting at your GPS.

My only criticism is that Touratech Roadbook. I've not heard good things about those, they are over-engineered and the MD r/books are much simpler and more likely to see a rally out. Just my $0.02. -- but then again, Pavey uses them all the time, so what the heck :nenau

Just finished my electrics and "Nav Tower v2.00" tonight. Been a long job getting it spot on. Compass repeater in a fortnight, new version fuel tanks next week then a decent seat and bash plate and I'm all done and set.

Good luck for March!

Iv fitted the grips, not sure about the second IMO, where do you get your GPS repeater from? cant find any, an y where that isn't marine stuff.

Get a PM off to Schattat on ADV. His is compatible with most Garmins - definitely with 60CSx and my 276C. Due mine next week :-)

..and just got word my new fuel tanks are nearly ready. Happy!

not happening

Well an executive decision has been made ( sort of) and im not doing the Taureg this year,

Even though the bike would be ready, the support crew was sorted.

The reason was my registration deposit was late...:blast

What a fuc....g idiot i am.

In my defence, i have been sorting medical and nursing homes out for my mother and a billion other things.

Oh hum it gives me plenty of time to prepare for next year...

berattions accepted..............:nenau
