Had mine replaced on my 2002 FLHT in America at 46k miles and the primary (front) one had just worn through to metal - if you have a twin cam with more than 30k miles get them checked NOW!
£20!! - it cost me nearly $900 at Atlantic County HD!!
Phil Hodges who runs Fatboyz diner in Trowbridge Wiltshire. (local indy) sells tensioners with pads made of different material. a white nylon type, similar to the material used on the primary chain tensioner. and cheaper than HD prices.
True....but the cam outer bearing in the support plate has changed (cheapened) from roller to running plain in the housing.....a much more expensive weak point.......just saying.......
