I had battlewings on my 07 GS when I got it don't think they are as good as the Tourances on my 05 bike but not by far. I got over 7.5K out of either rear tyre. Now have Bt-020 no better and don't last as long. Need to change soon and can't make up my mind whether to try 021 rear or go back to BW or Tourance

TRAIL WINGS

I have had trail wings on my 05 gs from new 7 rears,4 fronts in 32k miles,thought about trying something else but bottled it at the last minute.

they have been reliable and I feel comfortable with them would like to try a more roadie tyre but always go with the known quantity in the end.

Would like more than 4k outta a rear though.

Sorry to muscle in on your thread but rather than start a very similar thread I thought it would be best to post here.


I need some new boots for my 08 GS as the Bridgestones are close to being knackered. I only ever ride on the road and I ride all year come rain hail or shine.
I am traditionally a Michelin man but that's on sportsbikes or sports tourers. I love their Pilot Road 2's but they don't do a 19" front so they're out. I then thought about Bridgestone BT021's but I'd need to mix with an 020 to get the right size. A bike mechanic mate suggested Dunlop Roadsmarts as they apparently do them in GS sizes. I've always avoided Dunlops like a wet manhole cover at full lean but apparently their latest generation are getting rave reviews. Has anyone tried them? If so, how do you find them in the wet? Any other suggestions for a full road tyre?

Dunlop dont do a 19" Roadsmart yet, its still in development, sopposed to be out next month but they have been saying that for a year now.

I've recently had a set of Anakee 2's fitted replacing the original set on the bike, so i can only compare like for like.
The 2's are definitely more chuckable around the corners, or seem that way to me. After 1800 miles there's hardly been any wear on the rear so perhaps the new spec saying you get higher mileage out of them seems to be right.

I think tyres are very subjective to the rider anyway, so whats right for one rider another may think he's skating on ice on the same type.

Battlewings

Well I've just put another set of BWs on mine.... 7k out the last set and sure footed up to the last squared off 2mm.....

I'd forgotten how good new ones feel tho'.....

Y'know... 46,000+ miles on the old boiler and I've never had a bad tyre.

Tourances, Anakees .................and Distanzias are the current black roundy things.

I'm predominantly a road rider, but randomly stray "offroad"...

... maybe I'm not pushing it hard enough to test tyres to the limit, so I buy the cheapest with a name I know..

I do road riding only. My bike came with Battlewings have had Street Pilots and currently have Conti Road Attacks. The BW's and the Street pilots both lasted about 7k. The Conti rear is about finished at 6k.

I didn't have any problems with the BW's. Really liked the Street Pilots. The Conti's have been really good. Excelent grip in the dry and no worries in the wet.

I just got another pair of Street pilot's for £148 from BCT https://www.bctmotorcycles.co.uk/index.jsp although you need to get them fitted.

+1 on Battlewings, 5 months and just under 4000miles later I can't fault them. Great in the wet, excellent in the dry to the point of riding them to the rim

I am on the hunt for new tyres too, got Bridgestones on from new and have 8500 miles on rear with another 2-3mm to go.

If i could be bothered to go to the garage I would see what type of tyre it is.

2nd set of Battlewings going on this morning. Can fault them over the last 10 months, never had a sphincter moment, then again how many of us are really capable of running a tyre to its limits of performance, certainly not me, hence the square tyre I have now after 9000 miles !!
