Is there any downside in fitting a 160/60/17 to the standard R1200GS rim? The 4.25 size would suggest it fits fine - but wondering if it would have any negative effects. As the BT023's are now available in all sizes including the 19 front - I was hoping to increase road grip a little more in all areas.

For comparison, I fitted a 180 to my older blade some years ago, when the original fitting was a 170 - it seemed to slow the handling a little - however, it seems that the 180 is now the accepted replacement size.

So... anyone tried it - Any Downsides/Positives? Or just stick to the 150/70/17's and sticker road biased rubber?

I fitted a 160/60x17 on my last gs. It meant I could replace my conti trail attack with a road attack. The only downside was the road attack didn't past as long as the trail attack.
There was more rubber on the road when I was leant over. The only thing to check is that the tyre won't foul a hugger if you have one fitted.

Sorry. I'm on the phone.
