How many miles ya done Arsey ?

I was reading Bike yesterday and the guy runnning their long term test bike has just worn out a set of Dunlops in 2600 miles which he seemed pleased with because it last 600 miles longer than the Pirellis he had fitted before that :eek

He said the Dunlop was much better wet and dry than the Pirelli and well suited to the bike.

The bikes has done just under 9 k and is on its fifth set of tyres  Which is presumably why most sports bike riders only average 2 - 3k a year .....

Why a dealer ? Watling tyres done mine without a problem. Cheaper than a dealer as they buy from them.

Catford branch will have in stock, the other smaller ones may need 24 hrs notice.

Bike has about 2700 miles.

Rear is just about shot.

Was thinking of using dealer for 2 reasons.

Some tyre places don't have correct paddock stands-K1300 has single sider swing arm.

Also have heard that some places bugger up the TPC valve if they haven't experience of changing them.

Plan is to ride bike over from Guernsey, get tyre done Friday am and then go for a play somewhere.

Prob staying with mate first night in Sussex near to Gatwick.

If you are coming through Portsmouth Russ tyres will do an excellent job, he has the stand and knows about TPC give him ring on 02392 668777. He used to do my K1200S and about 2500 was about best I got from the rear on sports tech tyres.

Another vote for Watlins in Catford - had all my bikes done there. Allways packed with couriers and exotic bikes alike. Good price and service.

Micheldever tyres

Micheldever tyres between Basingstoke and Winchester are good. The guys know what they are doing, fitted tyres for my K1200s and GSA many times.

My new K1300R now has 2700 miles on it on the original Conti's and there is at least 1K left on it:thumb Not too bad but not as good as my GS:eek:

Might try Avon Storm's after another Conti rear. A friend recomends them he has them on his ZX12R and he does track days including the Ring on them.

Most tyre dealers should be getting used to TPMS now as there's quite a few BMW's out there with it and cars have had it for a few years now, just make sure you tell them:eek:
