tyre millage

Getting a new rear fitted on wednsday will have done 8500 then, tis tracking and slipping a bit now so will be glad to see it changed, front is still good for another 3k or so.

I am ashamed to say that i get about 4k to 5 k out of a set of tires. front & rear. The front wears down at the same speed as the rear. This is mostly due i think to approaching roundabouts at about 100 & not touching the lever til half way between the 200 & 100 yard marker. YOu can feel the tire squirming looking for traction.

Worst mileage ever was 3.5K on a much abused anakee rear while riding fully loded through the pyrenees. Front lasted much longer on that trip. It was the only tire i ever had where the edges were as worn as the middle when i took it off. The dealer in montpellier shook his head in wonderemnt when he saw it.

Taking it easy on Tourances I am getting 7k KM out of a rear but it is winter at the moment.

In summer on the hot roads and err making considerable progress (giving it loads out of the corners) I have toasted a rear in 3k KM but this is 30 - 40 degree days and riding like a tool :nono

Hullo, Carstairs. You're about two miles from me, mate! Look for the big church with the two big trees next to it. You know where I mean?? Yours must be the red one I have seen around? (same colour as mine).
Hillo Rooster,
Nope, mine is a yellow/grey jobbie with an Akra pipe, no CAT and a lot of noise ;) Oh, and some disappointing Pilot Roads :(

My 1150 has tourance on front and rear and is driven quite hard, I also tend to brake quite hard and late.

Both front and rear were both brand put on at the same time and cirrently have about 5k miles on them, and I think I will get another 3k or so out of them.

I think they will both be due to be changed at the same time as there isnt a great deal of tread left on the front and its getting scalloped from braking hard.

So there you have it.
If you're a maniac...Rears 5-7k.Fronts 8-9k.
If you are a jessie...Rears 10/11k. Fronts 14/15k
If you are a london despatch rider...down to the canvas, then another pair from the breakers. :D
