I am the only one who thinks
1. Tyre noise or drone is bad on the watercooled 1200
2. Road 5 are great in wet but have an awful noise on dry roads - this is after a 500mile run in mixed conditions
3 bin the road 5 and stick on the a lovely set Pirelli angles gt
4 maybe I have sensitive ears but it is quite bad

I find tyres react totally differently on different road surfaces, sometimes I hear the A3,s and sometimes nothing at all, depending where I am.

The Bridgestone A41s on my new bike are bloody awful on some surfaces, noisey as feck !

PR 4's and Annakee 3's on my old LC GSA howled like a banshee on dry roads especially once scrubbed in. Avon Trailriders and Dunlop Trailsmart Max's almost silent in all conditions

Do you wear earplugs ?
If you don’t they make one heck of a difference.

New headers/decat/akra minus baffle = no tyre noise.

Try my Karoo 3's, I wear ear plugs so don't really notice it but friends have told me it sounds like an old series Landrover, flat out, running tractor tyres:D

Depending on where you are? You mean if you are riding the bike you hear it, but if you are in the kitchen you don’t hear it? Sorry, beer kicking in lol.

Well thankfully tomorrow I can check the noise is still there, as the pissing rain has finally departed, next 10 days look good.

I’d never experienced noisy tyres on my 2010 GSA but my new 1250 GSA has got Anakee Adventure and they are unbelievably noisy. I don’t wear ear plugs. When wearing my Arai Tour X 4 the noise is a lot worse than when wearing Shoei GT Air ll.
According to the dealer apparently the noise is a lot worse on the GSA’s than on the GS’s.
The noise is so bad I may change these tyres before they are worn out.
Want a 100% road tyre next but not sure what to go for next.

Interesting article

Had quick flick at the Conti link but didn't see anything on tyre noise. Last time i bought some tyres FOR THE CAR most tyre websites listed dBs. Presumably there is a standardised test so the dB score enables direct tyre-to-tyre comparison to be made. Wonder if bike tyre websites will list dB rating in future. I fitted Anakee3s to my GS, they howled so i complained and was given a swop for another pair from same manufacturer but different tyre ~ much quieter. Earplugs (any make / type) only seem to take the edge off so (as they say) every little helps.

Long time ago but clearly they must have been michelin replacement (as they were issued & fitted free of charge), am 99% certain they were A2s. Good luck!
