Thoughts anyone...

I recently broke a tyre valve on my R1200GSA trying to pump air in with a filling station air hose.
It's the pressure sensor type (more delicate and easy to break than your usual standard valve).

I've just bought a 90 degree valve adapter from Nippy Norman that you screw onto the valve to make it it easier to attach a pressure hose (you remove it once you've pumped the tyre up).

This works great on my VFR tyre valve but doesn't seal on the GSA pressure sensor valve and just lets air out when you attach it.

Has anyone had a similar problem? How did you resolve it? Can you recommend a product that will work on a pressure sensor valve?

Cheers,

Ken.

With these tyre pressure valves fitted, do you depend on them to be totally reliable, or do you still check the tyre pressure "just in case" :D

Check with proper pressure gauge frequently. The sensors will tell me about a sudden deflation before it becomes a disaster.

All IMO, of course.

Had the same problem, I couldn't get a seal. I've now got a nice footpump at home and a mini compressor in the pannier so I don't have to rely on garage pumps. Not as cheap a solution as the angle valve I admit but works for me so far. My Monster has an angled valve fitted on the front as standard. I know NN sells those too, but dont know if they're compatible with the pressure sensors, haven't looked into that.

Used a flexible connector from an old foot pump and pushed in a tyre valve at the other end. If you cut off all the rubber from the valve, you are left with a nice knurled finish which fits tightly into the rubber hose. Simple and effective :thumb2

The reason why they don't work is that the thread on the TPC is short for these right angle adaptors.

The TPS reading is very accurate and temperature compensated to 20 deg. C. If you need to put air in at a filling station that has an inflexible connector; then post No. 7 is a good idea and easy to carry. :thumb2

That is brilliant!

I've ordered a portable electric pump
