I don't know if this topic has been covered before, but I'm sure there must be someone here who has some knowledge.

I have an 07 plate 1200gs which has the optional tyre pressure monitoring system.
There is a fault with the sensors causing the yellow warning light to illuminate on the dash. I suspect the batteries or the tyre sensors need replacing.

To me it's not an option I feel I need and would have it removed from the bike Canbus/ computer system
.
Question: Has anyone any knowledge if this can be done and how to go about it?

My 10p worth. I’d say it’s just as easy to fix as to remove. Especially if it’s just batteries. I have it on my RT and have had it before on a gsa. I think it’s a wonderful safety aid. Also have it on my c max. It has saved the day twice by giving me a early warning and allowing me to get a repair. There is no spare wheel. JJH

If your removing the tyre you can follow the YouTube video on replacing the soldered in battery or alternately ignore it and the system stops showing the error message

you can program the display so it removes the pressure read out if you really want to

I found that it can be taken off the Info menu in MotoScan (I see you can even add in tyre temp if you really need that info too :) )

spotted it while changing mine to read PSI

The original potting compound/mastic is easy to extract just take care as there are electronic circuits underneath. I used an ordinary Duracell battery (with a long use by date), solder tinned both sides and soldered a short wire to the lower side. The wire allows a secure connection to be made to the battery tag underneath. The top side is easy as you simply solder the tag to the battery. An acrylic mastic (as sold for car body panel sealing) or electronics grade silicone neatly closes the cut away mastic.

The sensors then worked as if nothing had happened.

I thought it must be possible. Since it is an option on the bike equipment list.
I'll try that or replace the batteries. it'll be good not to have a yellow light shining in my eyes;);)

If you want a hand to replace the batteries, give me a shout - I'm up in Warks.

I did both of mine last year - first one took about an hour, second one about ten minutes once you know where the potted bits are.

Hardest (read: most expensive...) job was getting the tyres off and on to do it; I waited until one tyre needed replacing and got the other one taken off at the same time, hurried home in the car, replaced the batteries and got a lift back to collect the bike after the tyres had been fitted.

I did mine one-at-a-time when tyres were due. It means having a blank line at one read-out but no warning triangle.

It’s the the coding section for the display

You can change psi
Turn on tyre temp
Set clock to 24hr
Enable display of heated grip setting
Etc.

Might only be available on the full version of the app though

Thanks. I have the ultimate version will try on the bike tomorrow. What bike does it work on? Mine is 2014 R1200GS LC.
