Tyre pump Recommendations

Looking for a tyre pump to keep in top box that can be used from either heated garment plug or din plug on 23 GS

i already have the ring rechargeable pump but as it gets used so rarely it flat when you wanna use it 🤷‍♂️
 
I had and sold an air pump, which I carried but never used, they are supposedly the best. I bought a Michelin rechargeable, which I use in preference to firing up the mains powered compressor. It’s probably less than half the size.
 
That’s does not fit with my requirements as it’s got a full sizes lighter plug on it

it does, potentially, I have an identical one with different branding

it has a lead with an SAE connector in the middle to allow croc clips or the 12V plug to be swapped over

of course, you would need to ensure the SAE part of the lead is long enough unless you have a decent length one on the bike, or use an extension
 
Presumably, it'll just be a bit of an emergency use thing....why not just get a half decent push bike pump? (I've had a couple of rechargeable inflators at home, both long gone, cheap shite....my 20+ yr old Silca push bike track pump still manages to fill a motorbike tyre with ease and gives me a bit of exercise at the same time...

You know you will be very lucky to get a tyre inflator that runs of the standard din socket on the GS, as it will trip at 5 amps current draw. Best bet would be to just connect an sae fly lead on your battery, which will open up a whole universe of small pumps for you.
 
I’ve got this pump branded AA and I’ve just wired it into the connector I needed for my bike. It’s compact and light and cheap which is a win for me.
I’ve been using mine for around 6 years now, with no issues. Excellent value for money.

the original version, now in many different own label brands, was the Stop and Go. I bought mine when I had a R1150GS so before 2011, costing £30. Only difference is that mine came in a little zipped pouch and is a more discreet black colour. Super little devices but need direct to battery due to the current. I blew a fuse on my Tracer when using it in the 12V socket and trips the BMW one. Works fine in my Audi's socket.
 
This is the one I have though beware that using any pump off the din socket will likely exceed the 5A max drain so canbus will switch it off if you're riding a Beemer. Mine goes direct to the battery using the SAE plug on the flying fused lead that comes with it

1. Many tyre pumps will draw more than 5 amps, forcing the socket to close down.

2. Go to any motor factors and buy the cheapest 12 volt pump you can find. The chances are, this will be housed in a big plastic box, too large for anything but a car boot. Buy it.

3. Take it home and carefully remove the plastic box. Inside, you will find the small compressor. They all look pretty much the same. This is the only part you need. Keep the compressor in a small Tupperware box or very cheap bag, along with its power leads. When needed, connect the power leads to the bike’s battery, via a fused flying lead or a fused lead with crocodile clips; a 7.5 amp fuse should be enough. If that blows, go to 10 amps. The compressor will run.

4. Pump up the tyre. Job done.

Note: The compressor may well get very hot. In your excitement of having a fully inflated tyre, do not pick the compressor up with a bare hand. You will only do it once, trust me.

Not a problem on 1150’s - no Canbus and will work all day (until the battery goes flat) on the DIN socket

However I find it best to leave the engine ticking over whilst the Airman pump is running for the 2-3 minutes

Airman are good

Recently got a German make cordless rechargeable Lithium battery one from Lidl ‘middle aisle’ for £22 and that’s good - torch and power bank too, useful on my trail bike with no bike battery and push bike

I have a Desert Fox pump but find it a bit big on the bike - so it’s in the Hilux pickup, although it’s a great pump and if you have alloy boxes it would be great at the bottom of one of those !

I got this one. Less than the price now seen so shop around.
I have yet to charge it.
I have pumped my bike tyres 3 times, and my cars twice. It still reads 75% full. Its a bout 1kg, 35 cm long and easier to pack than the airman compressor I bought years ago...I'd recommend it. PS bought it 3 months ago so it clearly holds a charge

I’m on my third one of those Michelin ones.

First wouldn’t hold charge on day one. Second one was OK, but then developed same problem. When I actually needed it last week, due to a puncture, it ran for 10 seconds before dying (it had been fully charged the day before).

Better off with the Lidl one for £22
