Hi All going to have a pair of Metzeler Tourance fitted next week. What do you think of ultraseal puncture safe I purchased some from BM last year but did not get around to putting it. I have a GSA 07 with spoke wheels with no tyre sensors. Thanks

put it in by all means but remember a puncture it seals will not be repairable by traditional plugs from the inside afterwards,a new tyre will be req,or you ride round as is,your choice really.

i personally dont like these sealants and always carry a plug kit

Stick it in your tyres.

Check them regularly for damage and punctures anyway.

If you get a penetration of your tyre it may or may not seal the tyre. I have seen it repair a hole and not repair a similar hole. :nenau

It does slow down deflation from large cuts caused by flints etc. At least it did for me and got me to a cafe where I was warm and had tea while waiting for the AA.

I use it and always carry tyre plugs and a compressor just in case.

I have seen it repair a newish tyre that ran another 6000 miles before being changed. Read the usage instructions to get the best from it if a puncture occurs.

I had it in all my bikes over the past 10 years, after getting a punture one night and being stuck on the side of the road for 4 hours, great stuff
I now use Ride On, which does exactly the same but cheaper!!!! :thumb

Works with or without tyre sensors

Eh? Just hose it out and wipe with a paper towel ....... no sweat, done it twice

Hi when I went to two different tyre dealers to day they both slaged this stuff of saying that it corrodes the inside of the rim. They also said you can’t get the tyre pressure correct as the valve gets all blocked up and plus they say it makes the bike handle not to good. Or are they looking after there own interest in selling you a new tyre.

Had Ultraseal on my VFR, but it rotted the rubber valve stem. Stopped using it. Carry a puncture repair kit now with a small 12 volt compressor.

They are talking complete bolloxs.

I have used the stuff for years and none of the above applies.

Its water soluble and lines the tyre not the rim. It can be wiped or washed off with kitchen roll or water jet. It does not get in the valve because the valve is on the inside of the wheel and the solution spreads to the outside eg the tyre, where it needs to be.

It does not affect the TPC sensor either.

Your assumption may be right or they are knobheads.

And, it does not always work so carry another method of puncture sealant or have your breakdown tel no handy.

Ultraseal ruined one of my trips to The Ring! Front wheel shook so badly at high speed it bolloxed the whole trip.

Hi, I used Ultraseal in my car and my bike/s. No problems and no punctures.
Only a slight out of balance shake on the front over 115mph.
I have bought a bottle form Hein Gericke 24.99 but now found it on Ebay for 18.99 Inc P&P (UK) so ordered for one of our cars.
Fit it yourself in about 30 mins. Air out to air in.
I wrote to Puncturesafe to ask why the box and bottle look similar to Ultraseal.
The reply was, "Puncturesafe is the UK brand name for Ultraseal (*NOT* UltrasealGB) in the UK."
There is no need to repair any punctures after installing. The product will not seal certain punctures but those are probably not SAFELY repairable anyway.

Any that do not seal will leak a small amount of sealant so giving you a warning that something is wrong.

I do not like to boast of the number of flats I have had/not had. But sealants have prevented visits to tyre places between 6k miles changes.
Main rule is avoid the damage in the first place. :)

The only puncture that I've had in the last 7 years that needed an immediate fix was so far round the tread towards the side wall that the sealant didn't get to it whilst the bike was upright and was therefor useless.

Don't bother with the gloop, just carry a plugging kit.

Ok, I cannot be sure I remember all the facts here but there has been (was) a long running dispute between Ultraseal USA and Puncture safe.

Ultraseal USA are the original product makers and marketed it through a company based in the UK. It seems that company in the UK started making their own product and began selling it as Ultraseal in the UK. Therefore elbowing Ultraseal into touch.

Courts and Patent issues ensued of course and we now have two completly different products.

I know Ultraseal works but I have never liked watered down beer myself so will not use puncture safe.

All of the above is of course not attributable to anyone and may or may not be a complete load of tosh. Just repeating what I heard in a pub etc etc etc. :augie

Did you perhaps put just a little too much in, or did you use a spoonfull?:rtfm

The instructions recommend using a pipette full!:comfort

Best con going.Think about it - average tyre life is about 4-5k put in every time you change a tyre. Not recommended by any tyre manufacturer. A pain in the bum for the tyre fitter who has to clean down the wheel before a new tyre is fitted and by that time its all over the tyre machine.fantastic stuff:augie:augie

On a moroccan trip with 8 other bikes. Only one had ultraseal in his tyre.

He was the only one to get two punctures, both times the tyre deflated, much to everyones amusment. :D

I've seen it fail far far too many times to ever consider using it.

I always carry a stop and go plug kit.
