Been using Tourances for a while but was wondering if people who use normal road tyres have noticed any difference in ride noise and quality over tourances and the like??
I have the Tourance EXP's on my GSA which I find very good. On my 05GS I had Michelins and tourance, and I didn't notice much difference to be honest.
Your best bet is to scour the past posts on tyres.
As with tankbags and helmets, everyone has more than one favourite. As to road noise? Wear good quality ear plugs, is the best advice.

This thread is borne out of the months I spent putting soundproofing into a Landrover only to find the quality of ride and amount of noise was changed significantly by changing to a set of cooper radials.
I used Tourances for years and years... Then I tried Conti Trail Attacks which I now swear by.
If its grip on tarmac you want then look no further... As to road noise I wear earplugs so thats irrelevant to me, but I can't imagine there would be any difference...

That's cheered me up Roger.
Just gone away from Tourances after over 10 years and put a set of Trail Attacks on.
Mainly road riding with a few gravel tracks so thought what the heck.
Don't know about road noise as I'm usually singing!

Its not just the noise but the vibration from the wheels on the road,, I ve had knobblies and they are a pain just wondering if there is as big a difference beween tourance and "road" tyres as there is between knobllies and tourance's.

Hi Roger, what mileage are you getting from your Conti Trails Attach's? I've got 6k on mine at the moment and they look fine, but looks can be deceptive! Thanks Twostroke.
I got a quiet 9000 miles out of a rear conti trail attack before it got a puncture at which point I binned it although it had some tread left but I was never happy with it's wet performance though so am now looking to try a set of Dunlop Road Smarts
Well its looking like about 5-6k on the rear, which for me is good as Tourances never lasted more than about 4500. But I am a big guy and most of my riding is on twisties (Pyrenees etc), not to mention my enthusiastic riding style.
For the front I have no idea, but my rule of thumb is usually to replace the front with every other rear one anyway.
Hope that helps a bit, but I am sure people will come along who get 12k out of a rear, its all very subjective...

Interesting choice. I am more than happy with the grip the Attacks offer but they are squaring off very rapidly. I know, keep off the motorways, but needs must sometimes. Will keep looking at other posts. Cheers:

Dunlop RT91 best tire...feels 2 clicks more confident in comparison to the Tourance, less of road, but superior on road, grip in all kind of situations (I installed my first pair on my new 1200GSA, Greek roads - which means mirror like condition - couldn't even get the ASC to work) definitely my #1 choice for on road conditions!
Excellent cornering, fantastic grip on wet and dry, quick geometry which makes cornering really quick.
I had them for 6500Km's (it was then sold) on my 1150 (last pair of tires I tried) and felt just the same, they are even more confident on the 1200...
