Not being a cornering god like Whatton and Steptoe I don't know the answer to this question maybe some of you have an idea.

Now, on the odd occasion I get the pegs down but I still have the chicken strips on my front but the rear looks like this......

what's wrong or is this the way all Anakees users have there tyres

Dont get hung up on it, all to do with profiles, nothing is wrong dont try to analise tyres and chicken strips, just cos you get to the edge of your tyres doesnt mean (in road riding) that you are taking the best line or speed.
Stop worrying and just ride.

Now, I thought the design of matched front and rear tyres would allow the profiles to wear evenly when leaning over.

I have the rear right to the edge…..so my worry is what's left to grip with if I lean it over anymore to use the full of my front.

Have I gone chicken?

my question is ...is there more lean still left with safety?
or am i at the point of losing grip at the rear?

Chicken Strips =- Annakees

My tyres are exactly the same as yours. But having done 3600 miles since Beginning March they are badly worn compared to my old Tourances on the 1150. I might get abot 5K out of these.

Perhaps it is the type of tyre which combined with the greater horses that causes it ......I don't really know.

But I have a set of Tourances ready to put on when I need them.

I was speaking to someone the other day who is quite knowledgeable and I have known for some time. I mentioned the same problem with the chicken strips...........he said that the rear will always wear down towards the edges, moreso than the front .............something to do with the torque and centrifugal force at the rear being greater than the front..........Also the weight of the rider creates more downforce and sideways pressure at the rear........Well it sounded good to me and made logical sense.

As far as being on the limit goes I don't have an answer.........so just ride it and if it steps away pick it up.

Regards

You worry too much, I haven't been on a bike or set of tyres yet that wear to the same degree. Some tyres are pretty obvious to spot that even when new the profiles are not the same front and rear. My last bike had the wear to the edge of the rear tyre (duke 748) but the front was untouched 3/4" from the rim.
If you are scrapping pegs, maybe that is limiting the lean angle, preventing wear to the rim.

As someone else mentioned earlier, the fastest rider is not always the one with his knee down.:cloak

Having just returned from my first europe trip (switzerland and the twisty roads on mountains in N italy) 2550 mile in a week (on a standard seat !!!!). I found my anakees in the same condition. the tread pattern seemed to be wearing oddly on the rear and nil on front and i put it down to my method of dealing with mountain hairpins ie going in on the back brake and acceleration out all in second gear. my only fear was that i'd pop a wheely on exit due to load on the back and the steepness of hill (mountain).

the performance of the tyres and the bike (03 adventure) great.

so don't worry and enjoy

Don't worry, my Touraces look the same. FWIW, so did my other bike which had Bridgestone 014s (nice 'n sticky) on it. Seems to me, "they are all like that sir!" How much further do you want to lean? Just get on with your riding! Happy cornering! :beerjug:
