So, after singing the praises of the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres, the front looks like this. It's all the way round, on both sides.

Anyone else had this happen on these tyres?

I've also got a nail in the rear, but it's been in there for over 200 miles, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. :augie

That doesn't look good - had no problems like that with mine. Done approx 4k miles so far and the grip particularly in the wet has been outstanding. I'm not sure the rear will last as long as the Conti TA2. but I'm not too bothered about that.

How many miles Nutty .. ?

Ummm ... that's not great is it. I'm normally the first to say if you want grip, don't complain about tyre life cos you can't have both, but id certainly expect two fronts to one rear.

(Maybe its your riding style and you need to concentrate on corner exit drive more than corner entry push .. :D :P )

The Conti TA II's on my 1190 always wear together (I've never had a tyre do that before).........but they do last a good few more miles than any tyre I've had before (approx 6-7k on the last set IIRC).

Then there are those total shite Dunlop Trailsmart things.............they lasted about 3k...........plenty of tread left mind, I just got rid 'cos I hated them so much :D

It looks like delamination, but I cant see how.

once the core stuff goes in, the tread part is just a chunk of rubber moulded to the carcass bits.

Have you got it on bothsides? if so then i'd say under inflation, Add in some robust front braking

and your forcing the tyre to inward V, the shear load is then on two small radi'- equidistant with

the tearing you see.

Might also explain why the centre wear bar is virtually unaffected yet the side bars are close to the

limit

Bugger just ordered a set of these mmmmmm

There's been a few mentions over on AdvRider; the ones that have reported the issues had these fitted on the bike from new. Those that have sourced them elsewhere are very happy with them.

Yep, it's on both sides. Tyres inflated to the specified pressures, and checked before each ride. I've also got the pressures constantly displayed on the computer, and they are where they should be.:thumb

Do you recommend the TA II's? Arsey said he's happy with his.

Had 2 sets on my SuperEnduro and they were OE tyres on my 1290.

The original front was dodgy from the factory so changed at 2000 miles under warranty for a new one.

Think it was strapped down in crate too tight.

But current tyres are perfect . Wouldn’t buy anything else at the mo .

Edited to add:

I also put a set of TA2s on my Africa Twin.

Did a 2000 mile trip to Hebrides on the OE Dunlops and they were average in the dry and downright dangerous in the wet.
Ordered a set of TA2s on my return and used them on a 2 up 3000 mile trip to Dolomites which included some very wet weather and they were brilliant as usual.

Must have done about 25000 miles on TA2s now and still my default tyre for a big ADVENTURE :blast bike.

I had a misshaped Bridgestone front tyre on my XR but on complaining to Bridgestone getting it changed seemed to be a right pain in the bum.

All I wanted to do was to send it to them but this couldn't be done so I bought and fitted another.
