Need some new tourances soon. Live in Barnsley. Is it safe to say that National Tyres just down the road know what they're doing with the ABS etc ?

Or should i head someplace else?

Price quoted is £165 ride in ride out, sounds OK....

If they're close why not just take your wheels in?
Then you'll be sure.

(I use them, but always take my wheels in.)

nat tyres barnsley

I live in chesterfield & me & my dad have always use national in barnsley They know what they are doing, friendly & are always around £20 cheaper than going local Yes I know the travelling costs but make an afternoon of it.
Also Ive had some scratched rims from a few local dealers & never had any from stuart @ barnsley.

Do yourself and your wheels a favour and have a ride over to Sandbach (some fantastic roads en route) and see Steve at F&B Tyres. There is no one more careful or thorough with your bike.
Steve runs the business from home, only deals with bike tyres and knows just about all there is to know about BM's. Do a search under F&B Tyres and read all the positive comments.

Here's a link to one of the threads including his contact details.

NT Barnsley

Never had a problem with Stewart at NT Barnsley, never heard of anyone else either, they are carefull and specialise in bike tyres.

I always take the wheels but you can ride in and take 'em off yourself in the yard if your'e happier doing that.

There's also a place in Ripley that's very good as well.

BFM

Just as a balence.
I tried BFM after reccs on the board.
My experience was not good.

After making an appointment and taking the pm off work was told "not in the book"
After some to-ing and fro-ing they agreed to do the work - result was:

Very bad scuffs on the rims
Managed to strip a rear caliper bolt
Took 2 1/2 hours
Bike covered in tyre soap.

As a result I used F+B this week.
Total contrast: very friendly service, took < an hour, no problems at all and it was cheaper.
As a bonus its a good ride over from Sheffield.
Recommended highly.

YMMV

Try Steve Sirrill's in Scholes just off the A64 east of leeds (0113 260 7383) I have used him for last 5 years, can't find anyone to touch his prices and service.
I got a new tourance rear this week after reading this thread rang BMF they were dearer so I went to Sirrill's.

Just another angle Steve was telling me Metzler have stopped making the H rated Tourance and will only be making the higher rated one this means a higher price, about a tenner + vat.

He had 6 H rated tourances left on Wednesday.
