What tyres your bike came with ? Do you like it ?

i have metzeler tourance and i belive other tyres should be better..

Mine came with trailwings. Seem ok in the dry but dire in the wet never felt anything like it:(

Mine came with Dunlop 607s a great tyre for the road, good grip in wet & dry but might need replacing at 5-6000 miles (which is not too bad). Although a multi-purpose tyre they don't look like they'd be much good in mud etc. off road.

mine came with Trailwings but I asked my dealer to change them with Tourrances;
this is because I read on this forum that Tourrances were better than the Trailwings especially on wet roads;
my test ride on a demo bike with Tourrances on a very wet day convinced me that they were very efficient in all weather conditions; I never felt such confidence with a bike when riding with so much rain and wind;
will probably change to BT020 when Tourrances are dead

Depends what you want them for. On a 12 theres lots of options isnt there? BT020s for road use for example?

Are you guys certain you got BT Trailwings and not Dunlop 607 Trailmax? The latter are OEM fit on many 12s and seem a decent alround tyre and are meant to be good in the wet. I guess your not taliking about the 12:confused:

Mine too. My comments would be exactly thae same :)

Before I got the bike I had inteded fitting Bridgestone 020's as I have no intention of taking the bike off road. However, I'm now wondering if I need to - the Dunlops seem that good!

I may change my mind after a track day or two this summer though, so watch this space!

Could be another long thread:D

Mine came with Anakees. Good sticky tyre in all conditions IMHO.

Nope deffo trailwings and it is a 12

Mine came with Tourances. I think they're very good - have never slipped on wet or dry roads (and I like riding twisties :D ). They look as though they'll last a good while too - this from someone who has been used to riding an Aprilia Falco on BT010s and changing the rear at 3000 miles:(

Mine came with Tourances, but on the same day another 12GS was being picked up with Anakees. As it happens, mine were on wire wheels while the other one had alloys. The dealer didn't have an explanation either.

The Tourances seem fine in dry and I've no complaints in the wet bits and downpours I've come across, but then I always ease off in those conditions.

Dunlop 607s. Excellent in the dry, with a surprising amount of grip. No problems in the wet.

Good wear as well. The rear is now barely legal at just over 8k miles which seems fair enough.

Will be replacing with same in the next week or so.

Mine came with 020s as I ordered them. Had a couple of sets on the 1150 - suited it superbly. Never do off road on the GS so only wanted road tyres. Fantastic grip, quick turning.

FWIW I was told by my dealer that they had no choice what tyres the bikes come with......BWM can't be seen to favour one manufacturer so various hoops are used.

Mine came with crappy trailwings as well.......swapped for anakees at the first oppurtunity, now on Tourences, soon to go to TKC's.

Tourances.

They seem fine - however I have only ridden 700 odd miles so far. Not bad for the first week!!

600 mile service tomorrow and the oil level is still only about 3 millimetres below the top of the top ring.

Dunlopd D607's. Great road tyre, good grip wet or dry. Have done a bit of mild off road on forest trails without problems. I was told the tyres to have were Tourances but will be fitting more Dunlops when the tyime comes.

Ditto.

Ok dry, twitchy in the wet and I crap myself if the back wheel so much and thinks about lateral movement. Too tight to replace them early.:mad:

Decisions, decision: BT020 or Tourance?:confused:

10k miles on the first set of Tourances! And yes they're still legal...just a touch squared off due to too many motorway miles..although we spend a lot of money on the 1200GS - BMW don't give a choice of tyres - great customer service to a set of people (bikers) to whom tyres are very important! I had no choice but was lucky to get the Tourances...
So come on BMW (UK) is it now - give us a choice - it can't be that difficult? What am I saying? they'll decide tyres are an "extra" and charge for them!!!!! Arrrggggghhhh

Just got back from Portugal having had a new rear Anakee fitted specially for the trip (The bike came with Anakees and the first rear was looking decidedly worn after 2.5k miles).

A mate of mine riding his Tiger had new Tourances fitted front and rear for the trip and after almost 3k they are in noticably better condition than mine. Also they seemed to offer the same level of grip as mine on the bendy Portuguese roads.

I think that it'll be Tourances next time.... What does anyone else have fitted?
