What are the best tyres to put on a 1150 GS. Something suitable for a bit of offroading and good for the road as well.

I have Tourance at the moment but they are flatteing out.

Is there a dual compound tyre with some decent nobbles on?

I am ithcing to takle this bike off road around Hampshire and abroad as well.

Really i want something that does well on motorways and lasts and can go go off road as well. Should I stick to my present tyres?

Ideally 8000 miles for a rear would be good.

mitas seem to be the new tkc or even tkc's

i have it under good authority that mitas are owned by continental!!!

so to sum up either the tkc 80's or the new mitas lookalikes either will do you proud!!.

Thanks for the reply.

I found these:-

Is it the CO6 or Co6 Leiseure or E10 that are the new TKCs.

Plus what are TKCs like on tarmac in the wet for cornering etc.

I run Avon Distanzias on one of my bikes which are a chunky tread. Not as chunky as the TKCs and I don't have a problem with them. Contrary to what people say about chunky tyres.

I have had Distanzias, Tourances etc on a few different size trailee style bikes. In my opinion they are not a lot better off road than a normal road tyre and grip almost as well as a road tyre on tarmac.....i.e I think it is more a `look` thing. Both are fine on dry and fairly firm going, but if you want to go anywhere a bit muddy or soft you need some knobblies.
Of course knobblies are pretty awful on tarmac. You can`t have everything.

from personal experience tkc's stick to the road like they shouldnt .. and if your gentle will give a decent mileage return the mitas likewise..
