hi guys, a question on front tyre size.
anybody used a 100/90 instead of 110/80? any probs regarding insurance, mot or abs? tia, let the urine extraction commence.

110-80 is 88mm high

100-90 is 90mm high so on the face of it no practical difference. The slightly wide rim is unlikely to make a significant difference. So I'd try it with a very low cost/free tyre but check TyreLeader first. I recently got a pair of TKC-70 for £165

thanks bendy, i was offered a as new 100/90 conti ta at a very keen price that is the reason i was asking.

No worries. :)
I'm well impressed with the TKC-70. Much better on gravel than normal trail tyres but with no road handling side effects that I can find.
To be fair they've not yet seen any rail but they grip like poo in the dry and have large tread slots so I'm expecting good stuff in the wet as well.
Some people say they feel knife edge for handling. I'd agree initially but I quickly adapted so put it down to new tyre syndrome.

Any more feedback on the TKC-70 now that you have a few more miles on them ???

I still love them.
They ride a bit harder than the previous set but the were badly worn so it could simply be the thicker tread. I've dropped pressures to 34/40.
Handling on tarmac is better than I am but I now have no worries about a line of gravel down the road.
In rain they are also fine though I've only ridden about 10 miles in rain.
They do make some road noise, sounding a bit like gear whine but it's not offensive and I really quite like it.
I've not taken them off road but I really don't have the skills on any tyre. I bought them to cope better with gravel over tarmac which they do really well. With traction on I can't unsettle the back the front has also behaved impeccably.
