If my 1200 comes with trailwings or dunlops, could i ask the dealer to change them for tourances?

There is no harm in trying, but don't get your hopes too high...

You've probably already looked at the "Tyres? What the bike came with??" thread and it looks like the general concensus is "no"...

Just do plenty of miles and you'll need to replace whatever you get very quickly!!

I know guys who have no complaints about the Dunlops and I've found the Trailwings to be ok. In the depths of a Scottish Winter, they were fine on muck covered road, greasy cobbles and even frozen rivers flowing across the road. Yesterday I got the toe of my size 8 boot down for the first time. So you can scratch on them as well.

If Tourances are really better then they must be pretty impressive.

Schtum,

Mine came with TrailWings and after I wore those out, I switched to Tourances. So far (several thousand miles) I find the Tourances to feel more planted and confidence inspiring at all speeds and conditions. Unless something very special comes along (no idea what that would be), I will replace them with another set of the same when they wear out.

trailwings

Trailwings seem to work ok on dry tar but as soon as it gets damp they feel very iffy to me and in mud they are a joke - but then so are most DS tyres I suspect. I will replace mine at the upcoming 10K kms service. A number of people have recommended Anakees to me over Tourances - they claim they are better on tar and about the same on dirt...anyone prefer Anakees to Tourances?

On my 1200 I replaced the Trailwings with Tourances - bit more planted but I found on dry tarmac the Trailwings were fine, could easily scrape things in turns.

While I find the Tourances inspiring in corners I do get a wery slight bar wobble if I take my hands off (nothing to worry about though) also they are great on the dirt roads we have over here

I wore out the Trialwings in 5,000k

Re wet weather in the 5 months I have had my bike I have ridden in the rain twice !
Gotta love this country ! (unless you are a farmer)

I had the Dunlops on mine - trailmaxs - they look very road orientated but I have ttaken them through snow, muddy tracks, several fords, fast wed roads - the lot and they have performed excellently.

Go with the flow - you never know you might be suprised - hopefully pleasantly!! :D

christ mike I thought I was bad going through a set in 10k - must be the heat in adelaide.......or all that furious thrashing you are giving them in the hills.
