You could always catch the Hull-Rotterdam ferry and meet up with the rest of the tour on the other side of the water. This is my intention when we next go over the water. We are all Yorkshire based but some don’t mind going south for the tunnel. I hate it and am quite happy to go via the North Sea ferry and meet up on the other side.

Update.

As it now stands....

Guru Gora UKGSER
Von Stolberg UKGSER
David Guru Gora DGR Pal
Speed Triple UKGSER
ButterTub UKGSER

Bookings....

Booked on 1810 Ferry Dover Calais 17 Jun 26.

Booked Calais Hotel 17 Jun 26.

Booked Soest Hotel 18 to 20 Jun 26.

I've booked other hotels via my work discount such as Salzburg. More later.

Regarding RV......

Bottom line is get your sphincters to Soest for afternoon 18 June 26.

I know that GG, DG, ST and BT are booked on same ferry. Von S is a southern Nancy Boy  so will RV at our usual spot on M20.

Accn available at mine for night 16 June 26 if someone from the North wants to split the journey up.

Other options are free run via say Hull Rott to RV in Soest.

Some interest elsewhere and 1 slot left.

Routing....

We will also be hitting the Harz, NW to SE now.

2 Nights Soest - Day Trip as 617 Sqn

2 Nights Salzburg - Day Trip Grosslocknering

2 Nights TBC - Day Trip Swiss Passes and Lakes

That's about it for now.

Any fresh interest let me know.

:D:cool:

The original posts #65 and #66 have been removed at the request of the OP.

Thanks Richard.

Back on point…..

As I mentioned at the start this would be suitable for a member who has always wanted to do it, but was awaiting the opportunity…… here it is.

In exactly the same way as you organise your jaunts and mates, I’d leave it to the OP to organise how, where and when he wants to rendezvous with members of his tour party.

No problem.

This looks like a great jaunt. I’d be very tempted but I can’t get the dates to work at all.

For anybody new to touring in Europe, what better way than to do it with others? Just because you don’t know them, isn’t a problem…. Don’t forget, they don’t know you either!

I met and enjoyed the company of lots of Tossers, when I ran my Wanders. With one exception, everyone was tip-top. Likewise, when I went on the Moroccan Dash and the Turkey Trot, great times… happy days and some very good memories.

Update, I’ve been sweating like an infnteer in a spelling test….(sic)

But bookings done now.

The final draft…..

17 RV Calais

18 Soest

19 Dam Busting day out.

20 Harz Mountains Altberg

21 Mystery Stop

22 Salzburg via lakes

23 Grosslockner / Lakes day out.

24 Lustenau via Great Escape sites

25 Austrian alps day out.

26 Offen Switzerland via great passes and lakes

27 Karlsrhue via Black Forest

28 Trier via 2 x wine valleys

29 Schlepp to UK

30 Ride home.

Stops are 1 night bar

Soest 2 nights

Salzburg 2 nights

Lustenau 2 nights

The 2 night stops will allow people a day off the bikes if they wish.

Maybe a day in Salzburg, wandering around the beautiful Soest or Lustenau.

Hotels bookings done, mainly with breakfast. All decent places. All but 1 I’ve used before.

Anyway that’s it.

1 slot still open.

Oh and I’ve been asked if I’m earning out of this, not at all.

As previously posts, if you’ve always wanted too……..

There’s only one greatest hit in Germany…….

Topped the charts and brought down the Berlin Wall in 48 hrs……

We were in Celle at the time the wall came down. Every Sunday for months after, the town was full of Trabants - Celle was one of the first big towns inside W. Germany in the north at least. They didn't spend a single Mark (they had none anyway) - they brought their own food/picnic and bascially sat in the grounds of the Schloss all afternoon and then went home...

UPDATE

We had a team meeting last night and we’re all on the same page 👍🏽

We’re still at 5, so again there is one slot available if anyone fancies it.

If you want further info pm me your phone no and we can chat it through to determine whether it’s for you or not.

We went through quite a detailed route brief last night…….its going to be a fantastic trip with a lot of variation, from high alpine passes, to lakes, to river gorges with some lovely overnights too. E.G Soest-Altenau-Plizen-Salzburg-Karlsrhue.

Let me know 👍🏽👍🏽

I’ve been asked about costs.

Very ball park ….

Per Day.

Hotel 45 pppn

Fuel 220 miles so let’s say 35

So to ride and sleep it’s about 80 quid per day.

Food, beer, tat, fridge magnets, Swiss Army knives, etc as you wish.

Typically a day for me would be about 130 quid.

14 x 130 is 1820.

I recon if you budget 2k you’ll be around there..

Hotel wise, the trips are all about the riding to me so I keep it simple, clean, and with decent parking.

I get good deals with my work, so for example we have 2 nights in a lovely hotel in Salzburg with breakfast for about 50 quid pppn.

For Rod Von Stolberg it’s very similar, but add 250 quid a day on tat and Swiss Army Knives.

Just had a look on your louis-moto link .. that's very good isn't it ? Basic mechanics is good for beginners like me so any advice is well received. Thanks for that Mr Von Stolberg :)

I’ve been asked about costs.

The estimates look pretty accurate to me, based on the reduced rooming costs.

The way I look at trips is:

Fuel is fuel and you can’t (other than by cutting down on daily mileages) do much about it. Likewise, ferry / Chunnel costs, insurance and the like. OK you can save some money through advance booking of ferry / Chunnel journeys and / or looking for some deals. But, on the whole, crossing some sea will have a (possibly) disproportionate cost; that’s what comes from living on an island brings with it.

Hotel costs are variable, depending on level of accommodation, solo or dual occupancy, type of board (full / half or bed only) and, to some degree or another whether breakfast is included. The OP’s estimate looks to be very good value.

Booze, meals out, buying stuff and the like, are all very variable. If you (understandably) blanch at £8 a pint, don’t buy it or drink less or find somewhere cheaper. Or, just factor in, that you’ve saved on the accommodation.

The final test is, see how much a professionally organised trip such as this, organised by say BMW or MCi would cost, just to turn up.

Then, work out for yourself if you’d rather stay at home or at work…. Or go on holiday.
